The US Military Is the Biggest “Big Government” Entitlement Program

"The US economy is caught in a trap. That trap is the Department of Defense: an increasingly sticky wicket that relies on an annual, trillion-dollar redistribution of government-collected wealth. In fact, it’s the biggest “big government” program on the planet, easily beating out China’s People’s Liberation Army in both size and cost. It is not only the “nation’s largest employer,” with 2.867 million people currently on the payroll, but it also provides government benefits to 2 million retirees and their family members. And it actively picks private sector winners by targeting billions of dollars to an elite group of profit-seeking contractors."

Windy

I am sure glad when I checked the oil in my truck that I didn’t need to add any. With that wind whipping around I would have certainly spilled some on the manifold. I did add some windshield washer fluid and that was bad enough.

Sunny but cold ❄

It’s a sunny but cold Saint Patricks Day 🍀 out here walking on the rail trail. Not so bad when the sun comes out from under the clouds ⛅ but the wind is biting. Been listening to the Off-Grid in Alaska podcast then the Diane Rehm Show about Fox News. Kind of polar opposites for sure.

The weather today reminds me a lot of late November. Cold but now mostly snow free. ❄ Wouldn’t be so bad if not for the wind. But I’m definitely enjoying the fresh air and the ton of water going over the Normans Kill Falls. 💦 Muddy anywhere off the trail and the Normans Kill is pretty brown too. 💩
