Dunn Memorial Bridge
The Old Dunn Bridge
I often think people romanticize cities before the highways - often city streets were narrowed with fewer lanes, more parallel parking added, after the highways were built. Broadway with the old Dunn Bridge and all the slip ramps to the bridge was kind of a monster on its own when mixed and mashed traffic heading in all directions with six lanes in front of the D & H building. Old Broadway and State wasn't particularly pedestrian friendly back in the 1950s and 1960s. I'm playing the devils advocate to a degree here but ramming a lot of traffic throughout urban downtowns isn't necessarily conducive to healthy, pedestrian scale neighborhoods. I'm not defending Frank Fuller's baby, Interstate 787 but we shouldn't be romantic about saving the Old Broadway / Old Dunn Bridge. It was pretty hideous for any body but the motorist back then.
Weather Update – February 11, 2022
You know your standards are low when you get excited about a 48 degree day. β
But it’s been a long winter, so we will take whatever we can get. 48 degrees is almost as warm as my heat is, so it won’t be running much and the outdoors will feel nice, maybe almost even vest weather. Maybe I’ll wear my vest when I go for my evening walk. I thought about getting out of town on Saturday, but I think it might actually be a pretty cool and cloudy weekend, with a lot of dampness and breeze. Plus, I am hoping for better weather for President’s Day Weekend or maybe April, or however the dice may roll.

Good Morning – February 11, 2022
Good morning! Happy Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day π₯ !
Spread enough lime over it and shouldn’t be too pungent as it starts to rot. Good advice for life.
Partly sunny and 31 degrees at the Dunn Memorial Bridge. β There is a south breeze at 8 mph. π. There are 3 inches of snow on the ground. β οΈSidewalks and other unsalted locations are a bit icy.
Nice mild sunny morning for a change. β The cold of winter seems to be moderating for a change. That’s good for a change.
Walked down the express bus stop π, it was sunny but the sidewalks were icy in spots. π The bus was on time, and I got off at the Concourse, took the stairs up to the plaza, walked around for a bit, and then came into the office. I will have to drop the window shade when I get into the office, as the sun is bright this morning. π β¬
50 degrees later which nice, π as that’s a warm as I keep my apartment most of the winter, so that means my heat won’t be working much today. Too cold though to open up the windows at this point. But maybe in a few weeks, as it looks like we might have a mild remainder of the month into March. That said, we will certainly have some cold blasts, as witnessed by the cold weather expected for Valentines Day, β€οΈ that will certainly freeze your heart.
