That news came in the middle of a press conference about the Trump administration relaxing fuel economy rules — a change that will make it easier for Americans to buy more of the big, fuel-guzzling trucks and SUVs that car buyers love.
Trump's endorsement surprised, delighted and somewhat confused American kei car enthusiasts.
It is not actually illegal to build tiny cars for the U.S. auto market. The problem is that kei cars built for foreign countries don't meet U.S. safety standards, so you can't import them unless you're willing to buy an antique. And companies could build tiny cars to U.S. standards, but given the American preference for big vehicles, they simply don't.

50 years later, Americans are finally learn to appreciate the Malaise era, and learning things from that era are actually collectable.
California emissions standards don’t make sense everywhere. 🏭
Areas with non attainment have emissions inspections but other areas often emissions equipment is clunky and works rather poorly. Automakers lobby for one standard but the problem is that one standard wastes fuel, reliability and performance in areas when the equipment is not neccesary.
NYSDOT Rest Areas Across NY
This helpful interactive map shows NYS DOT rest areas along the major interstates (excluding the New York Thruway) with bathrooms. A few of these rest areas are closed, but it will give you an idea which facilities are open. Tomorrow, I will do a map of Thruway Rest Stops. I was originally going to combine these into one map, but it turns out the DOT and Thruway Authority record information on their Rest Areas in a very different format.
