Watkins Glen State Park πŸ“

Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound. Within two miles, the glen’s stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. The gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade. Rim trails overlook the gorge. Campers and day-visitors can enjoy the Olympic-size pool, scheduled summer tours through the gorge, tent and trailer campsites, picnic facilities and excellent fishing in nearby Seneca Lake or Catherine Creek, which is renowned for its annual spring run of rainbow trout.

Damn thunderstorms rumbling around all afternoon. β›ˆ Ever since about two o’clock there has been a line of thunderstorms popping up just north of Horseheads and Elmira, far enough south they’re not impacting the weather here much but for some clouds but close enough to rumble and close the power of pool.

I mean it’s not like I didn’t get a good hike today – I really like that section of the Finger Lakes Trail that goes west in the state park – but my goal was to spend much of my day in the pool. I’m going to give it a few more minutes, then I’ll put some shorts on and call it a day after hitting up Tops for dinner and food and ice cream at Glen Dairy Bar.
