Anti Virus Rant

I don’t understand what the purpose of anti-virus software is or why you should have to buy it. Shouldn’t an operating system be secure and provide automatic upgrades, so you don’t need external software just to ensure your computer is secure ?

Then again in 2016, I don’t know why anybody would use anything but Ubuntu Linux on their computer. It takes care of the all upgrades itself and you never have to pay for add ons. The software is quite well developed at this point and unless you have special technical needs, there isn’t much of anything that can’t be done using.

October 13, 2018 Night

Good evening! Clouds, chilly a bit damp and 45 degrees in North Syracuse. ☁ There is a west breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. The skies will clear around 2 am. Hoping for a nice morning tomorrow for a hike at Clark Reserve.

Time goes by so quickly when you are as busy at work. I’m just kind of lost track of time and the seasons. 🍂 I see autumn coming and going but I’ve been stuck in the office a lot and it’s been kind of a wet and late autumn. Maybe though tomorrow I’ll see some good color.

Tonight will have isolated showers before 1am. Mostly cloudy ☁, with a low of 39 degrees at 4am. Two degrees below normal. West wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies. It got down to 54 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1958.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent Moon 🌒 with 27% illuminated. The moon will rise at 12:39 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Monday night with a chance of showers then chance of rain/snow. The Hunter Moon 🌝 is on Tuesday, October 23rd. The sun will rise at 7:16 am with the first light at 6:48 am, which is one minute and 12 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 12 hours and 53 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny 🌞 , with a high of 57 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees below normal. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies. The high last year was 70 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 1920.

So today was yet another busy day at work. Just lots of things going on as Election Day creeps closer. Technically at this point less than 24 days until the polls close. ⏳ I’ll be glad when it’s over once again 📮and I can get on to my road trip, hunting and the holidays. I miss the nights in the wilderness. I hate suburbanite life and all the consumerism that surrounds it. 📦I look forward to nice nights relaxing in the wilderness, laying back in the hammock, enjoying a fire and cooking in the back country. 🔥

In four weeks on November 10 the sun will be setting at 4:45 pm (Standard Time),🌄 which is one hour, 39 minutes and 14 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had rain, snow, mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 45 and 21 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 50 and 33 degrees. The record high of 72 degrees was set back in 1931.

Looking ahead, Northern Zone Regular Season 🦌 opens in 1 week, Average Night Below Freezing 🌌 is a month away and Regular Deer Season in Southern Zone 🦌 is in 5 weeks.

E.P.A. to Disband a Key Scientific Review Panel on Air Pollution – The New York Times

Well that's sooty ... "The 20-person Particulate Matter Review Panel, made up of experts in microscopic airborne pollutants known to cause respiratory disease, is responsible for helping the agency decide what levels of pollutants are safe to breathe. Agency officials declined to say why the E.P.A. intends to stop convening the panel next year, particularly as the agency considers whether to revise air quality standards. "
