If you were hoping for a cold to start to the New Year, you won’t be getting it in most of New York, but the upper mid-west will be cold, so you can at least watch videos of cattleman on the Youtube breaking ice with axes in the Upper Midwest. I am sure it will arrive though some time in late January or early February.

Rain, mild and dreary to close out the year β
50 degrees and rain for New Years Day. As Petula Clark once sung, it’s a sign of the times. Saves on the heating bills I guess. It’s funny how winter priorities change when you get old.

Good Morning – December 29, 2021
Good morning! What day is it? A snowy Hump Day, of course. π¨
Roads are just a bit wet, the side walks are okay not icy at all. Fresh snow on the tree branches. A few snow flakes here and there.
Snow showers and 33 degrees at the Elm Ave Park and Ride. π¨ Calm wind. The skies will clear Sunday around 10 pm.
Fare box is working on the bus π today, no free ride. Engine retarder though is making a loud grinding noise every time the driver hits the brakes. Seems like lately they’ve done a good job maintaining the buses although I guess the past few days show that’s not always the case.
Up early again but it might be too damp to walk on the Plaza πΆ but I guess I could do laps in the concourse with the muzzle on. But I don’t like exercising with the muzzle on quite honestly.
For a while they were talking about real cold weather in January β and while I’m sure it will arrive, it doesn’t seem like it will be happening that first week of January.

New data released on Tuesday shows that while omicron remains the dominant variant, delta – which is the more severe strain – is still a worrisome driving force behind the current surge.
The CDC had previously reported that as of Dec. 18, 73% of new cases were linked to omicron. But on Tuesday, the agency revised those figures, slashing that estimate to 23% – a 50-point drop, suggesting that while the new variant was on the rise, it was not infecting people at the rate the CDC had projected
