Can illegally built buildings stay? (Save the Pine Bush)

Back in 1989, SEFCU built a bank in the Pine Bush while Save the Pine Bush was still fighting in court to stop the construction. Ultimately, they were allowed y keep their building but they couldn’t expand it and they ended up donating it to the state for the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center.

August 1, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy August! Final full month of summer. Sunny and 70 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 There is a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 61 degrees.

My phone is working this morning πŸ“± but it’s really on its last legs. It has been so infuriating this whole week how the battery πŸ”‹ just gets discharged and won’t recharge. But my new phone is arriving on Monday so hopefully this won’t be a big issue going forward.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 86 degrees at 4pm. Four degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 63 at 11am. North wind around 6 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 101 was set in 1933.

It looks like it will be a pretty nice day. 🎣 I’m going to do some fishing and hiking this afternoon I think then go over to that socially distant summer gathering in Berne. Should be a pretty good day. Tomorrow will be wet but I plan to finish unpacking my camping gear and do some reading πŸ“–.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 65.2Β° from the due south horizon (-5.6Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. Already the sun is a fair bit lower midday. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:36 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (289Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (296Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:16 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 13 seconds with dusk around 8:47 pm, which is one minute and 10 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the 🌝 Moon in the southeast (139Β°) at an altitude of 12Β° from the horizon, 238,047 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:28 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 79 degrees. The dew point will be 63 degrees. There will be a south-southwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 27 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 11 seconds over yesterday.

I do like wearing my knock off crocks. πŸ‘£ Much cooler than the boots in the summer but they don’t offer a lot of protection for my toes and my feet do get quite dirty wearing them.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy πŸŒ₯, with a low of 68 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 64 at 1am. South wind 3 to 7 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 60 degrees. The record low of 45 occurred back in 1976.

I still haven’t decided if I’ll take a week from Monday off from work for vacation. 🏊 I’m going to look at the forecast and ask on Monday, and even if I have to work part of the week I’ll work remotely from the Finger Lakes. β›Ί I’ve decided I think I want to do the Finger Lakes again and maybe part of the week in the Allegheny National Forest. 🌲🌲🌲
