Top 6 Common Uses For Gold

Top 6 Common Uses For Gold

I was surprised to read that 78% of all gold consumed today is for Jewelry, especially with gold being used for many other purposes, such as electronics and other high-efficiency electrical conductors. Gold can be spread very thing for most uses, outside of jewelry, so while the amount of products that use gold are much wider then jewelry, only jewelery uses a significant amount of gold.

Difference between Microprocessor and Microcontroller

"Visually both microprocessor and microcontroller almost look identical but they are different in many aspects. They are different in terms of the application in which they are used, processing power, memory, cost and power consumption."

Cougars Officially Declared Extinct in Eastern U.S., Removed from Endangered Species List

Cougars Officially Declared Extinct in Eastern U.S., Removed from Endangered Species List

"Eastern cougars once roamed every U.S. state east of the Mississippi, but it has been eight decades since the last confirmed sighting of the animal. Now, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has officially declared the subspecies extinct and removed it from the U.S. endangered species list."

"The decision, announced Monday, is the result of years of deliberation. The agency conducted an extensive review of the eastern cougar in 2011, and recommended it be removed from the endangered and threatened species list in 2015, Reuters reported. The species, also known as pumas, are the genetic cousins of mountain lions in the Western United States and of Florida panthers, which are now found only in the Everglades."

Scientists In Alaska Find Mammoth Amounts Of Carbon In The Warming Permafrost

Scientists In Alaska Find Mammoth Amounts Of Carbon In The Warming Permafrost

"A short drive north of Fairbanks, there's a red shed stuck right up against a hillside. On the surface, the shed looks unremarkable, except for the shed's door. It looks like a door to a walk-in freezer, with thick insulation and a heavy latch. Whatever is behind that door needs to stay very cold. "Are you ready to go inside?" asks Thomas Douglas, a geochemist at the U.S. Army. Behind the door is a geological time bomb, scientists say. No one knows exactly how big the bomb is. It may even be a dud that barely detonates. But the fallout could be so large that it's felt all around the world. Now there's evidence that, in the past few years, the bomb's timer has started ticking."

January 24, 2018 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. Next Wednesday is once in a Blue Moon. Partly cloudy and freezing in Delmar, NY. Breezy, 22 mph breeze from the west-northwest with gusts up to 34 mph. ⛅The current wind chill is 18. I got out a little early hoping to catch the 719 on Cherry but ended up taking the local. A bit chilly. 🚌

🌳Only 55 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌻

Today will have a slight chance of snow showers before 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high of 34 degrees at 11am.🌝 Three degrees above normal. Breezy, with a northwest wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had light drizzle snow in the morning, which became light sleet drizzle and mist by afternoon. The high last year was 35 degrees. The record high of 54 was set in 1999. 7.6 inches of snow fell back in 1948.

The sun will set at 4:59 pm with dusk around 5:29 pm, which is one minute and 17 seconds later than yesterday. At sunset, look for mostly clear conditions and 26 degrees. 🌇The wind chill around sunset will be 13. Breezy, 17 mph breeze from the west-northwest with gusts up to 28mph. Today will have 9 hours and 43 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 6 seconds over yesterday.🌌

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low of 13 degrees at 5am. 🌒Two degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around -1 at 6am; Northwest wind 9 to 15 mph. In 2017, we had light snow and mist in the evening, remaining overcast into the early morning. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of -12 occurred back in 1963.

I was somewhat hoping to catch the 719 express to work today but it was not to be, as I did not get early enough of a start. I was doing good but then breakfast took longer than expected.

Going to be much colder and he next few days, but that’s what winter is often like in Albany. Winters are just harsh in these northerly climates.

Running low on milk at home, but I made what I had to do for the morning coffee. I’ve always been a big milk drinker and I got to remember to pick it up. I mean it’s just two doors down to Stewart’s where I buy milk. Its amazing how much of the bottles I end up hauling to the transfer station are those milk bottles although I’ve probably also burnt my share of them too. Redneck recycling. Haha.

I have my countdown clock pretty much coded and up and working. I’m running a little bit low on memory on the Arduino but I guess that doesn’t matter, although I am hoping to add an SD Card to store more strings and data for display. There are probably ways I can optimize my code for sure.

I’m definitely looking forward to the nice weather on Saturday for the Pine Bush hike, although I’m leaning against camping this weekend. Things could change before the end of the week though.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is the Blue Moon 🌝when the sun will be setting at 5:08 pm with dusk at 5:38 pm. On that day in 2017, we had snow, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 26 and 11 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 32 degrees. ⛄We hit a record high of 58 back in 1913.
