California Requires New City Buses to Be Electric by 2029

If the CARB mandate is met with four years - 2023 - one in four new city busses bought in California will be electric powered. By 2029, all new busses will be electric. It's an aggressive mandate, maybe not fully reachable but it will certainly incentivize public transit authorities to invest in the substations, charging equipment and electric maintenance equipment to make an all electric bus fleet possible.

Washed my truck, got boots and windshield wiper. Of course, I couldn’t get it on in the dark, they’re never simple. Drove home with the windshield wiper (on the passenger side) flipped up. Only 4.5 miles of expressway most of the way but of course there had to be a complete white-out, I could barely see the road as it was snowing so hard. And it’s like 35 degrees out with a light drizzle when I left. Go figure.

I measured this LED Christmas light string, and got remarkably excited that it has a power factor of 0.96, as it has no capacitance except from the wire. LED Christmas lights are simple, as they don’t contain any electronics or power supply except for a diode bridge and a small resistor that doesn’t dump that much residual voltage as heat. 2.8 watts for the 50 bulb string or roughly 0.05 watts per bulb which makes sense at 3.6 volts dropped at 20 mA.
