Open Space Institute to Acquire Sabattis Scout Reservation – Open Space Institute

The Open Space Institute (OSI) today announced it has secured a purchase agreement to acquire the Sabattis Scout Reservation in St. Lawrence County. The agreement sets the stage for OSI to permanently protect more than 1,500 forested acres within the Adirondack Park. The Scout camp includes historic campgrounds, ponds, hiking trails, and several miles of shoreline along Lows Lake.

OSI’s upcoming acquisition will open public access to the land for the first time in decades—a goal that has been long sought-after by local communities. OSI’s protection of the land is also pivotal in connecting regional forests and safeguarding wildlife habitat for birds, fish, and other wildlife.

SpaceX, Other Mega IPOs Denied Fast Index Entry by S&P

S&P Dow Jones Indices will keep its existing eligibility requirements for benchmarks including the S&P 500, closing the door to fast entry for big tech IPOs like SpaceX and delaying billions of dollars in flows from passive funds.

The index provider in a press release Thursday said it will not shorten the 12-month seasoning period for newly public companies it currently has or waive existing profitability and public-float requirements based on a company’s size, diverging from a broader industry shift embraced by rivals Nasdaq Inc. and FTSE Russell.
