This week a half century ago, Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence was the number one song on the radio based on the redubbed single that was released fall of 1965.
The 1966 album of the same title -- featuring this song -- and many other classics like Kathy's Song and Anji were released two weeks later on January 17, 1966.
Every time I hear the song, Classical Gas I have to think he has a lifter that is ticking a bit. But then again I drove a 5.3L Chevy for 14 years and the lifters held out beyond the frame rot.
Happy Thanksgiving! The Alice's Restaurant massacree took place a half century ago today, or so the song says. Don't get caught driving garbage around on this Thanksgiving, and certainly not dumping it over a cliff where you might get caught. This song is probably why they have large fences installed in Massachusetts near all of the highway rest areas, to discourage people from dumping garbage.
