While this is not a politically popular position, I think we need much higher taxes on all consumption items -- to discourage consumption both on unhealthy products and those that are carbon-intensive. Higher taxes on consumption, could allow dramatic cuts to taxes on investment and businesses.

Andrew Cuomo laid the groundwork Thursday for legalizing marijuana in New York, saying neighboring states already have, or are about to, so “for all intents and purposes it is going to be here anyway. You have states that have legalized it now…. It is no longer a question of legal or illegal. It’s legal in Massachusetts. It may be legal in New Jersey. Which means for all intents and purposes it’s going to be here anyway.”
My only question about this proposal: How do you secure your refrigerator to ensure your stoned puppy 🐶 doesn't eat everything 🌭 in your house?
How can you not think that secondhand smoke from marijuana wouldn't pose a risk to the heart and lungs? It's well established fact that exposure to even low levels carbon monoxide causes heart attacks and that breathing in black carbon from soot coats the lungs and makes it harder to breathe. I doesn't matter where smoke comes from -- a wood fire, a diesel truck, a gasoline automobile, or other source, the fact is that combustion causes toxic emissions.
