August 4, 2017 Morning
Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Four weeks to September 1st. Partly cloudy and 72 degrees in Delmar. There is a south breeze at 7 mph. The dew point is 67 degrees. The skies will clear around 6 pm.
Not a terrible morning for sure, enjoyed my walk down to the Park and Ride. Some clouds are pushing in, I probably should have brought my rain coat for later because that always ensures that it won’t rain. If it’s very wet in the afternoon, I guess I can wait under the portico at the Capitol for the bus.
Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain and frequent lightning. Partly sunny, with a high of 82 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 69 at 11am. South wind 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies with more clouds in the afternoon. The high last year was 84 degrees. The record high of 98 was set in 1955.
The sun will set at 8:11 pm with dusk around 8:42 pm, which is one minute and 15 seconds earlier than yesterday. At sunset, look for partly cloudy conditions and 77 degrees. The dew point will be 67 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 19 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 18 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain and frequent lightning. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 70 degrees at 6am. Nine degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 68 at 6pm. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2016, we had partly cloudy skies. It got down to 66 degrees. The record low of 43 occurred back in 1972.
Last night I gave Big Red a bath and went to the library. I was thinking about getting some groceries but decided against it because I’m trying to trim my budget and I have enough food at home if I’m creative. In the heat I’ve not been eating as much and I still have a lot of food leftover from vacation. Maybe though I will pick up a few more things from the farmers market.
I was going to go for my evening walk then my headphones broke. I decided I was tired so I retired to bed fairly early. I need to get back in the habit of my evening walk but it’s been so hot in the evenings and I’ve been trying to retire to bed earlier so I have sufficient sleep for work. I will replace the headphones shortly because the old ones I have for a backup aren’t real loud, especially when listening on the bus. They also aren’t real comfortable and have a crappy sound.
The new bath towels I have are great, by using credit card rewards I think I paid $3. I got them monogrammed with my name so they are easy to identify when I’m traveling for work or accidentally leave them around. Β Pretty soft, though not as soft as my current ones, because they aren’t beat to all shit. Seem to dry nicely. I got a dark blue color, so they won’t show the dirt or blood when camping as much.
Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until September 1st when the sun will be setting at 7:28 pm with dusk at 7:57 pm. On that day in 2016, we had mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 79 and 62 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 77 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1953.
