June 20, 2017 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Two weeks to Independence Day. Tomorrow is the official start of summer. Partly cloudy and 72 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south-southwest breeze at 7 mph. The dew point is 63 degrees and dropping. Still damp this morning but things are expected to dry up as the day progresses. Blue skies are nice for sure.

Not a terrible morning for sure and the week should get progressively nicer. I’m looking forward to a nice weekend camping, swimming and fishing next weekend. Then the following weekend is the fourth of July which should be nice.

Today will have some scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 2pm and 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high of 81 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 63 at 6am. West wind 7 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies and a high of 91 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1953.

The sun will set at 8:36 pm with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 14 seconds later than yesterday. At sunset, look for partly clear conditions and 74 degrees. The dew point will be 59 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 19 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low of 59 degrees at 4am. One degree above normal. Maximum dew point of 59 at 6pm. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph. In 2016, it got down to 56 degrees with thunderstorm and rain and mostly sunny skies. The record low of 41 occurred back in 1970.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Independence Day when the sun will be setting at 8:36 pm with dusk at 9:10 pm. On that day in 2016, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 87 and 54 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 104 back in 1911.
