Urban Population Loss

Every city large and small north of Poughkeepsie except Candidauga, Ithaca, Sherrill and Plattsburgh has fewer residents during the 2010 census then in 1970.

Comparing the 1970 census to 2010 census, Buffalo lost 43% of its residents, Niagara Falls 41%, Utica 32%, Rochester 29%, Syracuse 27%, Oswego 24%, Auburn 24%, Binghamton 27%, Jamestown 23%, Schenectady 15%, Albany 15%.

There are a lot of underutilized infrastructure in upstate cities for sure…
