December 6, 2016 Morning
Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Sunny and 34 degrees in Delmar. Calm wind. A very morning for December. If I didn’t have to dress up for work, I probably would have taken the express to work and walked down to the Park and Ride.
Today will be mostly sunny, with a high of 40 degrees at 1pm. A very nice day. One degree above normal. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had fog and a high of 39 degrees. The record high of 68 was set in 2001. 12.5 inches of snow fell back in 2003.
The sun will set at 4:22 pm with dusk around 4:53 pm, which is 5 seconds earlier than yesterday. Today will have 9 hours and 10 minutes of daylight, a decrease of 1 minutes and 1 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will have a chance of rain and snow before 9pm, then snow likely. Cloudy, with a low of 34 degrees at 9pm. Nine degrees above normal. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. In 2015, it got down to 26 degrees with periods of fog. The record low of -7 occurred back in 1901.
There is 1 month until Epiphany, (12th Day of Christmas) when the sun will be setting at 4:38 pm with dusk at 5:09 pm. The average high temperature is 32 degrees, with a record high of 61 in 1895. The last of the Christmas lights will be shut off and the harsh winter weather will be upon us.
That podcast I shared earlier today on the blog about the fake news industry, is pretty interesting. There is a lot of money to be made off of conspiracy nuts. Its rather amazing to see what ideologues believe in our country, fact or fiction. And apparently if you’re an ideologue, you’ll believe anything as long as it demonizes your political opponents. At least most of our elected officials are somewhat more level headed.
Been looking at ordering Oxford shirts from Sears online. I just like how they fit but Sears usually has limited ones in stocks locally when I go there. Online I’ll have to pay shipping unless I order at least four shirts to spend more than $50. I got to think about it. Economy shipping is only $3, less than gas to Sears. And they’re one sale for $16 through Friday, which is a good price compared to the $18-20 range that they often are.
I am still liking the weekend forecast for camping, and maybe hunting and hiking, although in the Adirondacks it will feel more like January than December. Without the wind and lots of sun it shouldn’t be too bad. A couple of inches are expected of snow on the ground but that’s fine, I’ll shovel out a parking spot and my campsite.
Going to be a nice day. Get out and enjoy it if you can. It’s been a while since we’ve had a nice sunny day like today.
