July 19, 2016 9 AM Update

I don’t understand why people have to tailgate. This morning when I was walking down to the bus stop, I was waiting to cross at one of the unsignalized crosswalks and the first car in a line of cars stopped rather quickly for me.

The following car had to slam on his or her brakes because she was tailgating. We all are distracted drivers — and sometimes traffic stops quickly in front of you. While people are quick to condemn using a cellphone while driving, we all look out out window to see the scenery, pretty women, interesting looking cows and tractors, and so many other distractions, like adjusting our radios.

People really should maintain a safe distance between cars, especially when it’s so easy to be a distracted driver.
