Should All Felons Be Executed?
It’s an interesting question.
Some people would be bothered by the mass-slaughter of convicted criminals, of the most serious crimes, but the flip-side is if we are not restoring the full-rights of those convicted of a serious crime, then why should they be kept alive, draining resources on society, and causing further violent crimes to be committed?
When you think about it, there was no such thing are prisons prior to about 150 years ago in most communities. Short-term town and city jails, yes. But not prisons. Since the founding of our country, until the 1850s, those convicted of the most serious crimes were generally executed. We didn’t have the resources or ability to lock criminals up in a cage for long periods of times. Prior to the 1850s, those convicted of crimes, either went to the town jail for a couple of weeks, or would be executed on the town square.
Felons are basically non-citizens, with few if any rights. They are forever forbidden to be part of our democracy, and in most cases can not vote, can not have a job, can not own firearms, or even get government housing or food assistance. Many if not most felons, if released from prison, spend their days wandering the streets of blighted neighborhoods, homeless, and causing trouble.
It certainly would remake our cities and change how we thought about felony crimes. It might make dangerous criminals even more dangerous, if they felt they had nothing to lose. But it does seem inhumane to lock criminals up for long periods of time, and wasteful to have them consuming society’s resources, without them giving back anything to society in future.
It doesn’t seem right to be locking people up for extended priods of time, much less for life. Why waste the resources to extend a life that has no value to society? It’s even more terrible to be releasing criminals from jail with their rights greatly compromised, and unable to participate fully in society.
Execution seems harsh. But if we are going to have felony crimes, to punish the worst behavior, then we should either have defined sentences, with full rights restored upon treatment and release, or we should outright execute the felons, so they can not come back to harm others.

I was convicted of felony weed possession at 19. I’m now 29 with a wife, a two year old son, a master’s degree and a 6-figure job. People can turn their lives around. You’re an ignorant and sociopathic prick. I hope that you get the mental help you need before you kill a homeless man for being ‘scum’.
Possession of weed or any other drug should not be a felony. Only if you are dealing. You can kill off felons but it would be better to have them rebuild our bridges and roads. Let their labor support their stay and pave a route to redemption.
Im a felon that was indicted in three separate cases in two years. Burglary and assault….11 years ago. Served two years in prison and six years of probation. I cannot find a job beyond minimum wage, doctors wont treat me and i will never see my daughters again. I would prefer to have been executed.
Only violent felons should be executed. I’m a convicted felon because I got three DUI’s. There was never an accident or injuries involved. Violent felons have no regard for human life or the rights of others. Coddling vicious animals that rape, murder, molest children, sell drugs or, steal from the elderly leaving them homeless, should be executed using the cheapest method possible. If it’s painful, all the better.

I was convicted 11 years ago for burglary and battery
Did 3.5 years. I have my firearm rights restored and can vote (but I choose not to vote because it’s a sham)

hell I’ll even pay for your transportation cost to get to me. Please be aware though that my state is a castle doctrine state. Either be about what you preach or seek some professional help to change your dated ignorant views towards people. People mind you that have seen the worst the world can offer but still keep pushing, something I doubt you would ever be strong enough to endure. Better yet do the world a favor and put a barrel in your mouth and pull the trigger.
I think you miss the point here… It’s individual freedom and liberty that is important, not people’s carcasses. Life is precious because of the ability to live one’s life, not because of bones and muscles.
Deep thoughts. Now let’s get real. The “criminal justice” and prison systems in America do not exist because the gov wants to keep you safe. Rather, the US incarcerates more of its population than any other country in the world including Russia, for two reasons: Money and Power. The criminal justice/prison INDUSTRY exists to line the pockets of the rich and powerful. You willingly support it with your tax dollars, under the guise that you’re being kept “safe.” The felonist who wrote this article, has bought the story hook, line, and sinker. He’s not a jerk–I’m sure he’s a nice guy. He’s just ignorant because he hasn’t done his homework on this topic. Please stop perpetuating felonistic attitudes, people. You’re supporting something that you know nothing about. If you care about the topic, educate yourself. Do your research. And observe where the money goes…the money always tells the true story.
