Saturday sunshine ๐
So last night I was getting super annoyed with Gemani AI reminding me how toxic burning garbage is, and all the stupid penalties in New York. Fuck New York State, when I own my own land, I’m going to have a burn barrel, go to the dump like once a year. Kind of like I do now, literally burnt thousands of pounds over the years. When it came down to it, if some day I get busted, whatever, pay the fine, move on with life. 15 years until I have the off-grid cabin in a state that let’s me have my freedom, my fires, my guns, my cattle and livestock.
I really like AI though because it’s very thought provoking, ๐ค and with a little back and forth you get it to come around to your way of thinking. It became a very interesting discussion about finances, ๐ฐ career decisions ๐งโ๐ซ, savings and investing goals and frugal living. ๐ Truth is I am a lot closer then many people towards that off-grid dream, and if I push through the next decade and a half, I will be able to retire early and make it happen. Have a legal burn barrel, cows, goats, and hogs, that off-grid homestead. ๐ As they say on those farmer pages, happiness has a smell. ๐ฎ ๐ฉ
Truth was I was just kind of fried after a long week, ๐ณ damn neighbor was running the lawn mower and then the leaf blower, and cars kept backfiring and motorcycles ๐ต kept rumbling. So noisy, and I kind of wish I had gotten out of town this weekend but after four weeks on the road, I needed some time off. Going to ride out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center ๐ธ and look at the wildflowers ๐ป in a bit, and then I don’t know what’s next. I should do some cleaning, ๐งฝ ๐งผ and I don’t know. Thursday would have been wet to head north and I probably could have survived being away and totally off grid this weekend but it’s still kind of a cool weekend and Sunday looks like rain. ๐ง๏ธ But maybe less then they first estimated, the forecast keeps changing. Maybe though I concede it would be a nice weekend. I am considering hammock camping tonight, but maybe it’s just better to stay home, save the โฝ and push through another a week.
Next weekend I could do the Potholers ๐โโ๏ธ but I don’t know if I can actually get Friday off from work. But I could remote work. ๐งโ๐ป Maybe drive down to Dolgeville and I could work from there. They have a nice little library and park along the East Canada Creek. The Dolgeville Library is open 11 AM to 5 PM on Friday but I am sure I could sit on the street and work outside before then. ๐ But that also means I can’t spend the day at the Potholers because I’m working down in Dolgevlle. The other option I guess would be to head to back top Schoharie, I have decent cell service at Mine Kill Pool ๐ฑ and I could work poolside with the mobile hotspot. I don’t think it will be a non-stop day with work, but I have to be avaliable and reachable to run data jobs and solve problems. ๐ญ I could hit up the farm stands over the weekend, maybe float on the Schoharie Creek by Towpath Mountain and the state campground. โญ
As the AI reports, there is reason for hope. โบ๏ธ I keep saving and investing, some day I’ll have that land, the off-grid cabin, the burn barrels and livestock. AI is big on North Central PA but I’m also interested in exploring other alternatives. Like Southern Ohio. Missouri, Wisconsin, Northern Michigan too. And then there is Western states. Apparently I was so down over being stuck in the town for the weekend that my feeds are full of ads for 988 services and Better Help! But it just was so loud with the traffic, and I miss nights in woods with fire smoking dope, ๐ฅ eating off paper plates and not recycling to anything but carbon dioxide. โป๏ธ There is still one more weekend of summer left before Labor Day, and things don’t come to an end that day, even if swimming becomes too cold and state swimming pools are closed. ๐ฅ But lots of great autumn camping ๐ฅพ opportunities with lots of color. I could hunt and fish too, longer nights for bigger fires. ๐
