Blackwell Triple Crown [Expires August 15 2026] ...

I think it's doable, but a long day. Maybe I drop Gillespie, I want to drive down from Finger Lakes National Forest early, hit Chimney Rock, then head down to Cedar Run. I might do Gillipsie Point or maybe I'll just do some of the rail trail, north of Cedar Run. Then I want to drive back along West Rim Road, maybe hit Barbour Rock if there is enough daylight, then head back to New York probably via PA 287 but if it's getting dark, Mansfield and I-99 to Paint Post then NY 414 to Beaver Dams - Watkins Glen. Between the LASIK and the excellent automatic dimming headlights on SuperDuty I don't worry so much about driving hom eafter dark.

I also am planning an Elmira or Corning day on summer vacation. I do like the Tanglewood Center in Elmira, and wouldn't mind going back to check out Steege HIll area, and the village is flat and good biking, and the Mark Twain stuff might be interesting, but I've heard Corning has a lot of neat things too explore and it's even more bike friendly, and some good trails. The Finger Lakes are good, but I feel like I've kind of tapped out "new" adventures up that way.

More about Tioga State Forest...

Tioga State Forest derives its name from the Seneca phrase "meeting of two rivers." It covers 161,890 acres in Bradford and Tioga counties. The forest hosts the Pine Creek Gorge, also known as the "Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania." Tioga features awe-inspiring views and miles of clean, cool streams, like Cedar Run and Babbs Creek and is one of eight state forests located in the PA Wilds region.
