Good Morning – November 17, 2021
Good morning! What day is it? GIS Day, of course. 🗺
Draw me a map as they say, preferably in the R programming language so it’s reproducible. I guess it’s kind of cold out this morning but should warm up as they progresses though cloudy later.
Partly sunny and 28 degrees in Delmar, NY. ⛅ Calm wind. Things will start to thaw out at around 8 am.🌡️
Today is GIS day so I should probably come up with some pretty maps 🗺 for the blog to post. There are so many things to explore with maps and remote sensing thanks to all the satellites and public data out there these days.
Yesterday I participated in an online conference about Census Data ⚙ 📊 and GIS put on by the Monroe-Genesee County GIS group (nee… Rotchester) which was interesting but I didn’t learn all that much new. I don’t recommend using the Census Bureau website to get data when the Census API with R programming language or Python is so much easier and much powerful. GUI software is great except when you have to do something more than once.
I was so tired last night 😴 that I ended up heading home, laying back in bed, cooking up some pasta, watching a video about programming in COBOL, and then I fell asleep for the night.
I need to call today about getting my truck inspected 👨🔧 after I get the new tires put on Saturday. I also should see about getting the shock bushing fixed, because that’s annoying on the rough roads, although I don’t expect there will be a lot of rough roads I’ll be exploring soon, it’s not likely to be a big expense.
