March 28, 2020 Night

Good evening! Rain and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. It was pouring earlier but has let up. The skies will clear Friday around noontime.

Schodack Island State Park โ›ฒ was packed which shouldn’t have surprised me with everything else closed but it did because it was raining out by the end of my hike and cold and cloudy โ˜all day. You don’t expect to see many people out in the woods on such dreary days except maybe the opening day of hunting season. I really enjoy sitting quietly in the woods and there was a ton of mostly common birds ๐Ÿฆ when I was observing ๐Ÿ”ญ.

I am impressed by the amount of food that I got from Aldi’s and the whole shopping ๐Ÿช experience. Really spent what I normally would at Walmart for a lot more meals ๐Ÿด and options. Those chicken tenders were really good – far better than microwave chicken paddies plus I have two more meals in the freezer. And I ton of yummy ๐Ÿ˜‹ fruit and veggies. ๐ŸŒฝ

I got the clippings from John Wolcott house ๐Ÿก. It was nice to see them but it felt so odd stepping back when I was handed the box ๐ŸŽ and talking real briefly while social distancing. I put hand sanitizer on both before and leaving and left them in my truck overnight ๐Ÿ“ฐ before looking at them in the morning. I think with the cold overnight and the fact that I doubt they’ve been exposed to the virus the clippings should be safe to review later on tomorrow.

Tonight will rain likely, mainly after 3am. Patchy fog after 1am. Otherwise, cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 42 degrees at 12am. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 28th. Southeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 44 degrees. The record low of 0 occurred back in 1923.

Its definitely a very quiet night with the rain on the roof ๐Ÿ’ฆand no traffic on the roads as everything is all but shutdown. I thought about riding the exercise bike ๐Ÿšฒ but decided against it as my neighbors are home. I watched an Off Grid video and a Big Clive Electronics video this evening that I downloaded earlier in the week. ๐ŸŽฆ

I also finished my eight book of the year, The Big Tiny about this woman who built a ๐Ÿก on a construction trailer like you might see for demolishing a building, towed by a pickup truck and lived in it. The Tiny House movement is fascinating, although I think I’d want home slightly larger although maybe smaller my current one bedroom apartment. There are a lot of options out there, and while I wouldn’t necessarily want to build something, I am very interested in some of the off grid hunting camps I’ve looked at that are pretty rustic but certainly not in New York and probably not in the Salt Belt.

Tonight will have a First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon with 19% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the west (270ยฐ) at an altitude of 27ยฐ from the horizon, some 246,074 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 1st. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บAin’t going to see it with the rain. The moon will set in the west-northwest (295ยฐ) at 11:37 pm. The Pink ๐ŸŒธ Moon is on Tuesday, April 7. The darkest hour is at 1:01 am, followed by dawn at 6:16 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:45 am in the east (85ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:22 am with sun in the east (91ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 24 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain. ๐ŸŒง High of 48 degrees at 1pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 25th. Southeast wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 51 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1946. 5.6 inches of snow fell back in 1984.โ„

The next few days are going to be quite rainy. ๐Ÿ’ฆ I’ll probably run to the laundromat tomorrow morning early and call ๐Ÿ“ž the folks to see how they are doing. I probably should skip Sunday dinner to be safe – at least that’s what the experts say. I’ll talk to them and get their thoughts but maybe it’s best to stay away for a few more weeks. I’m hoping by Easter ๐Ÿฐ things will calm down with the virus and things will be better again. It’s just scary times we live in.

I got the laptop from work today and will be able to use that instead of my personal computer ๐Ÿ’ป for work stuff, although I was told it doesn’t have Microsoft Office on it yet but they will install it soon. So I won’t have to use the library Wi-Fi on rainy days from my truck which is nice. First half of the week looks bad so I might be stuck at home which kind of sucks but maybe it will further help starve the virus for now. I’m just getting so tired ๐Ÿ˜ด of day after day of Coronavirus, filled with scary stats and numbers ๐Ÿ”ข.

Latest long range forecast for next weekend looks increasingly rainy โ˜” but it’s a long ways off and I’ll take it one day at a time. Things aren’t so muddy and I’m thinking this rain may do a number on the snow in the Adirondacks which opens up further options such as NY 8.

In four weeks on April 25 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (289ยฐ) at 7:49 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 54 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 66 and 38 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 63 and 41 degrees. The record high of 89 degrees was set back in 2009.

Looking ahead, Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ is in 3 weeks, Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ is in 7 weeks, Memorial Day Weekend Starts ๐Ÿ•๏ธ is in 8 weeks, Last Day of Session ๐Ÿ› is in 12 weeks and Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 12 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 54 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
