April 10, 2019 Night
Good evening! Mostly clear and 40 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north-northwest breeze at 8 mph. π. With that breeze it’s a bit cool but still well above freezing. Temperatures will drop below freezing around 1 am. βοΈ
I’ve been digging through the Deer Hunting report from 2018 to put together some maps and other GIS content for the blog in the next few days. πI’m trying to come up with some unique new content for the blog. I have some ideas that might be neat. There is a lot to learn on the latest versions of QGIS particularly now that so much can easily be run through the GRASS πΎ backend.
I went out for my evening walk around 9:15.πΆNot a really warm evening but lots of stars β¨ out above and a nice crescent π moon. I wish it was a bit warmer to sit out back but those days will be here before you know it. Quiet night but usually at this hour β³ traffic is pretty light.
Tonight will be mostly clear π, with a low of 27 degrees at 5am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical night around March 21st. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Windows are closed tonight for sure. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1874.
Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent Moon π with 42% illuminated. The moon will set at 1:07 am. The First Quarter Moon will be tomorrow. The Pink Moon π is on Thursday, April 18th. The sun will rise at 6:21 am with the first light at 5:52 am, which is one minute and 41 seconds earlier than yesterday. π Tonight will have 10 hours and 47 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will be sunny π, with a high of 54 degrees at 4pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical day around April 6th. North wind 3 to 6 mph. It should be a nice day. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 87 was set in 2017. 1.7 inches of snow fell back in 1942.β
Tomorrow at lunch I plan to run up to the General on Central and buy the brake switch. βI’m thinking about installing that on Saturday maybe after I go to the transfer station. I do need to still clean out the bottles in the refrigerator for recycling. I’ll be glad once the cruise control is working again on my truck.
Saturday looks like the best day of the weekend. π Saturday, a chance of showers, mainly before 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 74. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Maximum dew point of 52 at 9am. Sunday, rain likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Typical average high for the weekend is 57 degrees.
Sunday really doesn’t look great but maybe the morning won’t be a washout, so maybe I can start packing my camping gear βΊ should I decide to head out of town for the three day Easter Weekend. So far two weekends out the weather ain’t great.
In four weeks on May 8 the sun will be setting at 8:03 pm,π which is 31 minutes and 37 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had sunny and temperatures between 77 and 41 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 67 and 45 degrees. The record high of 91 degrees was set back in 1936. I’m looking forward to those nice days in May, especially once things get green.
Looking ahead, May π is in 3 weeks, 8:30 PM Sunset οΈβ±οΈ is in 8 weeks, Primary Day π³οΈ is in 11 weeks, Altamont Fair Opens π‘ is in 18 weeks, State Fair Opens π‘ is in 19 weeks, September 11th πΈ is in 22 weeks, More Night then Day π is in 24 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 π΄π» is in 93 weeks.
