December 26, 2018 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 31 degrees in Delmar. ☁ There is a west breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around noontime. 🌡️

Tired this evening 💤 kind of a long day for sure. I did go for a nice little walk around town though which was nice. Now I’m laying in bed, soon to close my eyes. Just so much going on.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers before 2am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 24 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around December 9th. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2017, we had clear skies. It got down to -4 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1914.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon 🌖 with 74% illuminated. The moon will set at 11:12 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Friday night. The Wolf Moon 🌝 is on Sunday, January 20th. The sun will rise at 7:24 am with the first light at 6:52 am, which is 19 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 24 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 35 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around December 19th. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had . The high last year was 17 degrees. The record high of 60 was set in 1895. 15 inches of snow fell back in 1894.❄

Christmas Dinner at my parents house was pretty good. Ham and all the fixings. It was a nice Christmas dinner, my parents are still pretty good cooks. 🍲 Ginger bread cake wasn’t my favorite but the glazed ham was very good. I really got to work on improving my cooking although I suspect when my parents stop doing Christmas dinner I’ll probably end up doing one of those community dinners at a local church, especially if I finally get a chance to move to a small town outside of New York.

I hooked up the LED strip and transformer at my parents house, and it worked once I figured out how to staple things up. 🔌 I didn’t count on how difficult it would be to stick up wires on the bottom of the cabinets due to the wood not being like aluminum. I think if I were to do it again, I would get some sheet aluminum and bolt it on that for better heat dispersion, :idea:although the current set up should work but it’s messier then I had hoped. At least it makes it a lot brighter for them. I think if I were to do it again I would re-think how I did it.

I got my phone renewed, after it got disabled with the auto renewal rejecting my credit card and then the fraud protection locking out my card. I got an email and a phone call to disable the fraud block but I got confused and got locked out. Ended up calling the card servicer and they got it straightened out and using another card I was able to renew my phone. 📲 Bought a full year’s subscription for $540 including taxes and fees which is cheaper than buying 6 months at a time like I previously did or before then going month to month. It is a lot of money up front but I’ve been happy with the Straight Talk service I’ve had for nearly a decade now so I figured buying a year of service was a low risk proposition which will save me $85 or maybe even more when you figure taxes and fees over paying month to month. With money as tight as it is in my budget anything I can save I’d important. Plus now I won’t have to budget for phone service until next December which is good as money is so tight, especially going forward as I won’t be making as much money as I did last autumn.

Hopefully now that my phone is working again and I return to a more normal work schedule 📃 I’ll have more time to do some more blogging. I made up some more maps the other day and are posting more videos and pictures but honestly lately my adventures have been kind of lame with the weather and because I have my favorite places.

After the power came back on during Christmas Day I finished sorting my electronics components. 🔬 Now when I finally get back to the projects things are nice and neat and I should be able to find the necessary components quickly which is a good thing in my book for sure. They’re a lot of winter left to play with electronics before it’s gets nice enough to want to spend a lot more time out in the wilderness.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a slight chance of rain showers after 7am, mixing with snow after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 27. Typical average high for the weekend is 32 degrees.

I am still considering going to the Adirondacks after the Save the Pine Bush Hike 🗻 through New Years Day as it looks like a lot of snow has melted but I’m concerned it might be really icy up north and money is kind of tight again after Christmas and paying my cellphone bill and rent for the month. I don’t know why could enjoy the long nights and the solitude and I could really use some time away from it all. 🌌 Life gets tougher as you get older, I enjoy the solitude more and getting away from Albany. Starting out the New Year in the wilderness might be very special.
