September Comes to a Close

Well good bye my old friend, September. It seemed like you ended before you began. It wasn’t a terrible month but a pretty busy one with work and travel. From a rather rainy first weekend camping outside of Spectulator in Perkins Clearing to heading out to Madison County for the week, then to Schoharie County for a weekend Utsaythana Mountain and the John Boroughs site, then an overnight in the wilderness. Then it was out to North Syracuse, with some brief intermissions of hiking along the Old Erie Canal and exploring the fields and fauna of Green Lakes State Park.

The days have gotten noticably shorter. It seems like we are going to start out October rather wet and gray, but I don’t mind. I actually like how fast time has come and gone, as it means we are getting closer to my November trip when I can enjoy some quiet and relaxation in the wilderness. Cooler days, crisp blue skies will be upon us shortly.. They leaves will reach peak color, then fall, leaving a stark landscape of crisp blues and browns.

Colorful Clove
