August 16, 2018 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 79 degrees in Delmar. Calm wind. The dew point is 67 degrees. The muggy weather ends Sunday around 11 pm. 😓

Definitely a really muggy evening tonight, sitting out back next to the fan with a cold glass of orange juice. 🍊 I have the firefly light running, lots of stars above and the moon has only recently set below the tree line out back here.

I went to Stewart’s and picked up some milk so I’ll have it with the cold coffee in my refrigerator in the morning.β˜• Not leaving the coffee on my stove any more as I think the coffee in the heat may get mildewy and it’s better cold at any rate.

Picked up my contacts today but my glasses weren’t in yet. 👓 Well that sucks, I’ll have to make another trip but I think they are open on Saturdays and late one night or another to pick them up. Maybe I can get a bus up there one night when they come in and just pick them up. At least I have the contacts. I’m surprised they didn’t give me a free contact container or solution sample this time. Maybe I didn’t wait enough, but I was annoyed that I was going to have to come back for the glasses.

I ended up going down to the library and working on several memos and other things for work. 📚 Time went by quickly at the library but it was well air conditioning now that they fixed their new unit, and they had internet for which I lack at home.

With the heat and humidity, mildew has become a problem again both in the kitchen and the bathroom of my apartment. 🚿 Got the bleach out and scrubbed things down good. Its always been a problem the eleven years I’ve rented the unit, but I like the location as there is so much I can walk to nearby without dealing with the winos and pick pockets they have in the city. 👺Maybe air conditioning would help but that’s not a technology I believe in. I’d rather just sit out back on a hot old August night like tonight.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4am. Partly cloudy 🌞 , with a low of 69 degrees at 4am. Nine degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 67 at 9pm. Calm wind. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies with some clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 40 occurred back in 1979.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent Moon 🌒 with 39% illuminated with the moon setting at 11:13 pm. The moon will rise again tomorrow at 1:03 pm. The First Quarter Moon will be tomorrow with partly cloudy skies. The Strugeon Moon 🌝 is on Saturday, August 25th. The sun will rise at 6:04 am with the first light at 5:33 am, which is one minute and 5 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 10 hours and 10 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 34 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 10am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Cloudy β˜” , with a high of 82 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 70 at 1pm. Light southeast wind becoming south 8 to 13 mph in the morning. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1913.

Right now, I’m not sure what to think about the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 79. Northwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 68 at 7am. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Maximum dew point of 62 at 1pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 80 degrees.

I think I will take it by ear, and decide on Saturday morning if I want to head out of town. β›Ί If I do head out I’ll probably not go too far but I want to enjoy my remaining summer before it’s gone. If I stay in town, maybe I’ll finally build a board with the voltage regulator to use my ESP32 Module I bought in the spring. But I don’t know, I think I’d rather have a nice night in the wilderness especially if Sunday looks nice

In four weeks on September 13 the sun will be setting at 7:08 pm,🌄 which is 46 minutes and 52 seconds earlier then tonight.
