August 10, 2018 Morning
Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Two weeks to Average High Falls To 79 οΈDegrees β±οΈοΈοΈ. If I were to guess, endless summer is not endless after all, and like all things must come to an end. But then autumn comes around, and that’s always a nice season.
This morning is a pleasant one. Partly sunny and 68 degrees in Delmar. There is a northwest breeze at 5 mph. π. The dew point is 61 degrees. A touch of humidity. Today will be quite pleasant but will slip down hill for the weekend. But I could use a quiet, relaxing weekend this weekend.
Today will have a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny π , with a high of 82 degrees at 3pm. One degree above normal. Maximum dew point of 63 at 10am. North wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1949.
Listening to John Denver’s Poem, Prayers, and Promises as I take the local bus downtown. It’s nice to dream about a better tomorrow and even just the nice autumn weather that is coming around the corner. π I really enjoy the cooler weather of autumn, the changes the seasons bring with less daylight, more color, hunting season and the changing nature of the woods as autumn happens. I’m thinking about Moose River Plains for Labor Day Weekend but that could certainly change. A lot depends how busy I will be at work.
Only a few more days left until the sun sets before eight in Albany. The sun will set at 8:03 pm with dusk around 8:34 pm, which is one minute and 22 seconds earlier than yesterday. π At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies β with a chance of thunderstorms β‘ and 76 degrees. The dew point will be 61 degrees. There will be a north-northeast breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 5 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 26 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10pm. Mostly cloudy β, with a low of 62 degrees at 5am. One degree above normal. Maximum dew point of 62 at 6pm. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2017, we had partly cloudy skies. It got down to 64 degrees. The record low of 46 occurred back in 1941.
I am not convinced that this will be a nice weekend to head out of town, but only time will decide that. If I do head out it will just be an overnight trip. βΊ While I did make some progress cleaning up this week I wouldn’t mind a quiet weekend at home. Its just been busy with long days at work, hopefully for a better tomorrow.
Besides the Moose River trip, I would like st least one more trip out to the Mine Kill Park π and farm stands π½before summer is done. A fall trip to Piseco Powley Road and maybe Moss Islandπ would be nice but it really depends on how busy work turns out to be. π₯
As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High Falls To 79 οΈDegrees β±οΈοΈοΈ when the sun will be setting at 7:42 pm with dusk at 8:11 pm. On that day in 2017, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 75 and 56 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 79 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1947.
