July 6, 2018 Evening
Good evening! Happy Weekend! Partly cloudy and 81 degrees in Albany, NY. Breezy, 16 mph breeze from the west-northwest π¬ . The dew point is 60 degrees. Maybe still a bit humid and hot outside, but it’s more reasonable then it’s been in recent days.β± I like the heat when I’m swimming but not so much when I’m stuck in my apartment in the city.π The 4th and 5th of July just were brutal weather-wise, not having air conditioning, and not wanting to head out of town, to save money for the weekend and have time to work on various parts of my truck.
Today started out quite wet. π§ I decided to walk down to the express bus when it was just starting to sprinkle, and before I finished the 15 minute walk it was pouring.ππ Fortunately though I dried out pretty quickly with the low-humidity conditions with the air conditioning running.
The sun will set at 8:35 pm with dusk around 9:10 pm, which is 20 seconds earlier than yesterday. π At sunset, look for mostly clear skies and 72 degrees. The dew point will be 53 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 13 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 10 minutes of daytime, an decrease of one minute over yesterday.
Tonight will be mostly clear π , with a low of 54 degrees at 4am. Seven degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 56 at 6pm. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph becoming light after midnight. In 2017, we had mostly clear skies with more clouds in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 66 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1979.
On this day in 1947, The AK-47 goes into production in the Soviet Union. Even after almost seven decades, the model and its variants remain the most popular and widely used assault rifles in the world because of their substantial reliability under harsh conditions, low production costs compared to contemporary Western weapons, availability in virtually every geographic region and ease of use.π«
Looking ahead, next Friday is typically Hottest Time of the Year π when the sun will be setting at 8:32 pm with dusk at 9:06 pm. On that day in 2017, we had thunderstorm, thunderstorm rain, rain, patches of fog, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 78 and 63 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 83 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1894.
