June 22, 2018 Morning
Good morning! Happy Friday. Ten weeks until Labor Day Weekend. 😮 Today is the second day of summer, First Day of Year when the Average High is 80 🏖. Mostly sunny and 57 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north-northeast breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 46 degrees. Going to another absolutely beautiful summer’s day but it’s not expected to last into the weekend.
“Trees swayin’ in the summer breeze
Showin’ off their silver leaves
As we walked by.”
Today will be mostly sunny 🌞 , with a high of 81 degrees at 4pm. One degree above normal. Maximum dew point of 55 at 6pm. North wind 6 to 8 mph becoming south in the afternoon. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1954.
The sun will set at 8:37 pm with dusk around 9:12 pm, which is 10 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies β and 72 degrees. The dew point will be 56 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, an increase of 6 seconds over yesterday.
Last night was absolutely beautiful walking in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve after Lynne Jackson’s presentation on the history of Save the Pine Bush. There were thousands of fireflies around under bright moonlight. I hiked for over two hours without seeing a soul. 🚶I probably shouldn’t have worn shorts but I didn’t see any ticks on me when I checked. Ticks are everywhere this year, but I’m not willing to enter the witness protection program to avoid them. I probably already have Lyme, I’m achy a lot at times. But other than that, a Great evening!
Tonight will have increasing clouds β, with a low of 58 degrees at 6am. One degree below normal. Maximum dew point of 56 at 7pm. South wind 6 to 9 mph. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies. It became humid as the night progressed. It got down to 69 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1940.
On the other hand, rain is expected to push in on Saturday into Sunday. We need rain but gawd, why does the rain have to come for the first weekend of summer? 💦 Tonight I plan to get a good night’s sleep and rest up over the weekend. The Save the Pine Bush hike is on Saturday, 🌲which assuming doesn’t get rained out I will attend but the weekend forecast generally looks bad. As I noted yesterday, I have several electronics and cleaning projects that I need to do over the weekend.
Rushing to head over to the Pine Bush center, I knocked over a bag of chicken paddies getting breading all over the floor. I didn’t sweep it up right away as I was running out the door. 🐭 When I got home I found a mouse scurrying across the floor. I thought I was done with mice for the summer months then again it’s not hard for a mouse to get in as there is a gap between the concrete slab foundation and the wall in my kitchen. That’s what you get with an affordable apartment in the suburbs.
There are 5 months until Thanksgiving 🦃 when the sun will be setting at 4:27 pm with dusk at 4:57 pm (Standard Time).
