May 17, 2018 Night
Good evening! Partly clear and 65 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 8 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 52 degrees.
Sitting out back enjoying the evening, especially as I don’t have to go to work tomorrow but I might go hiking before the rain comes on the weekend.🏃 It’s just nice to be out of office especially because I expect several late nights next week. Kind of a hot day today climbing on the roof of my truck to mount the solar panel but now that’s done. 🔌Just need to get some wiring for proper grounding, along with a fuse holder and a fuse to tie it into the solar controller and then anytime I’m parked and the sun is shining my truck will be topping off the accessory battery.
Tonight will be partly cloudy β, with a low of 48 degrees at 5am. Typical for tonight. North wind around 8 mph. In 2017, we had mostly clear skies with more clouds in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 62 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1981.
Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent Moon 🌒 with 10% illuminated. The moon will rise at 8:29 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Sunday night with mostly cloudy skies. The Flower Moon 🌝 is on Monday, May 28th. The sun will rise at 5:30 am with the first light at 4:57 am, which is 57 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 9 hours and 15 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 56 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will be partly sunny 🌞 , with a high of 64 degrees at 3pm. Six degrees below normal. North wind around 8 mph becoming east in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 94 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 2017. 2.2 inches of snow fell back in 2002.β
Yeah, it might be nice hiking tomorrow. Maybe just somewhere close like Bennett Hill. 🗻 I don’t know. Also thinking about the Taconic Trail, been a while since I’ve done that although it’s like if I do that I should almost wait until next week when I’m in Vermont. I don’t know, depends on how I feel come the morning. I don’t really like driving a long distance just to go hiking especially with gas prices going up. Plus it’s going to cloud up in the afternoon and I’m hardly a morning person these days.
Not a particularly nice weekend on tap. π Saturday, showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 58. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Maximum dew point of 62 at 12pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 70 degrees.
I think it’s fair to say stick a fork into it for the weekend weather wise,🍴 although I think Sunday won’t be a wash out. Sunday the fuse holder should arrive and it will buy more plastic conduit and run the wires from the panel to the solar controller so things will start charging from the solar.
In four weeks on June 14 the sun will be setting at 8:34 pm,🌄 which is 21 minutes and 22 seconds later then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 79 and 58 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 78 and 56 degrees. The record high of 96 degrees was set back in 1892.
Looking ahead, Fathers Day 👨 is a month away, Consitution Day 👨β🏭 is in 4 months and Thanksgiving 🦃 is in 27 weeks.
I am hoping for a nice Memorial Day Weekend. If the forecast looks good then I’ll start finalizing my plans for the weekend. Maybe back to Vermont, that’s a quick trip and always nice camping or maybe the Adirondacks.βΊ It’s still to be decided.
🇺🇸🦅Only 7 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!🦅🇺🇸
