April 26, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. โ›ช I guess if you have internet at home you can stream virtual church but I’d rather spend my time in the wilderness. ๐ŸŒฒ God can be heard by listening to the birds ๐Ÿฆ which I still enjoy giving the middle finger too. Two weeks to Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€. Time to get out that Frank Zappa record, Motherly Love. ๐Ÿ˜ Cloudy and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Rain is definitely coming…. For most of the next week according to the radar. ๐Ÿ’ฆ There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear Tuesday around 2 pm.

I don’t know, maybe last night would have been fine in the woods ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณโ›บ but it wasn’t a real starry night ๐ŸŒƒ with the clouds pushing in early and the breeze pushing in and things super dry and buggy in the hill towns. ๐Ÿœ I was planning on going to Rennselearville State Forest to hammock camp but I think I’ll wait until the nights are warmer and less buggy. I think yesterday the black flies had just hatched from the warm weather.

Even though I didn’t camp ๐Ÿšถ I had a nice day when I started out at Black Creek Marsh (highly recommended early mornings, especially off Depot Road) and then hiked up old Partridge Run Road to Fawn Lake then over to the Gulf and ultimately along the ridge line. I mostly shot those photos ๐Ÿ“ท with the other camera, I’ll upload them this week. I was darn tired ๐Ÿ˜ด when I got home and went to bed.

Today will rain, mainly after 11am. ๐ŸŒง High of 55 degrees at 9am. 13 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 29th. Temperatures will drop through the day, their getting snow in the mountains late. โ„Right now though I have my windows open for fresh air but I’ll close them before I go to the store. South wind 7 to 9 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 61 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1990. 0.3 inches of snow fell back in 1993.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 61.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-9.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:12 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (283ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (290ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:50 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 8:20 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (272ยฐ) at an altitude of 32ยฐ from the horizon, 242,202 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:58 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 43 degrees. There will be a north-northeast breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 35 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain. ๐ŸŒง Low of 38 degrees at 11pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 18th. Just a cold wet rain here. North wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1963.

Plans for today include washing the truck ๐Ÿš˜ and running to Walmart. ๐Ÿช Hopefully it won’t be too crowded but there is a lot of things I need and today would be a good day to do it. I have some projects coming down the pike on Monday for work so I expect a busy day then. Next weekend it might be a good week to go back to the Adirondacks for the weekend depending on the weather. I want to do a trip out to Schoharie but not until things green up in in May.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€ when the sun will be setting at 8:05 pm with dusk at 8:37 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 69 and 52 degrees. I remember, I was camping up at Stewart Landing and it was kind of a cold and wet morning. Typically, the high temperature is 68 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1970.

April 25, 2020 8 AM Update

Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Best spent in the wilderness. Three weeks to Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ. Cows and humans like that. Now drink more milk, it smells like the farm down the road from my place had to dump milk again and spread it on the fields. I do love drinking milk.

Partly cloudy and 43 degrees at the Black Creek Marsh WMA. โ›… Light wind. Stunningly beautiful day, a lot of wildlife to observe today. Finally clearing up after a cloudy start to the morning.

I got up at five AM to drive out to Black Creek Marsh ๐Ÿฆ to watch wildlife and social distance. The marsh is full of wildlife including wood duck, deer, mink, mocking birds, wood pecker, bluejays and a whiper will. Well worthwhile getting up early, the woods is full of sounds ๐Ÿ”Š although I wish there was a bit more sun but it’s clearing.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 62 degrees at 4pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 24th. Light northeast wind. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 2009. 0.3 inches of snow fell back in 1928.โ„

Wonderful spring day. For the balance of the beautiful spring day I’m going to hike at Partridge Run ๐Ÿšถ, observe nature, take pictures then come night fall visit another state forest pitch a hammock and spend the night I think. โ›บ It might be cold by morning but I’ll survive and there aren’t a ton of bugs ๐Ÿœ yet.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 60.7ยฐ from the due south horizon (-10ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:11 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (283ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (289ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:50 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 8:19 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (278ยฐ) at an altitude of 22ยฐ from the horizon, 244,989 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:57 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 58 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 13 hours and 52 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 37 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 42 degrees at 5am. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 28th. Light southeast wind. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 49 degrees. The record low of 24 occurred back in 1972.

I am impressed how nice my sideburns are looking on my face. โ˜บ They’ve grown quite wild and thick, one part redneck one part Captain Kangaroo but a little less silly. Makes me feel like a real man ๐Ÿ‘จ. I did trim them a little bit but not that much. When this period of social distancing ends maybe I’ll change my mind although I doubt I’ll be wearing a suit or tie ๐Ÿ‘”any time soon so it doesn’t matter much.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ when the sun will be setting at 8:12 pm with dusk at 8:45 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 69 and 48 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 70 degrees. We hit a record high of 89 back in 1991.

April 24, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Next Friday is May 1st. Been such a cold spring it’s hard to imagine that next week is May. It’s only just starting to green up in Albany. ๐ŸŒธ Rain and 41 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a north breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. 0.14 inches of rain is expected before it ends around 4 pm. Not a lot of rain predicted and Saturday will be nice.

Coffee โ˜• and wild berry muffins this morning for breakfast. Also cream cheese. It was a pretty decent breakfast not as heavy or labor intensive as making eggs ๐Ÿณ like I did yesterday. No birds ๐Ÿฆ out the window to give the middle finger too. I do get a laugh ๐Ÿ˜‚ out of giving the bird to the birds. I’m sure my neighbors think I’m nuts.

Wish it was nicer out but I really shouldn’t complain much ๐ŸŒป– I am sure hot and humid days are right around the corner. It will kind of suck this year if state park swimming ๐ŸŠ pools are closed because of Coronavirus.

Today will rain likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 53 degrees at 4pm. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 4th. North wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 61 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 2001. 1.2 inches of snow fell back in 1967.โ„

Kind of a dreary day for sure. ๐Ÿ’ฆ April Showers bring May flowers although they’ll be no tulip festival ๐ŸŒท this year not that I ever went to that except for tabling for Save the Pine Bush a few years ago. But it’s nice when things green up except of course for the black flies.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 60.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-10.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:10 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (282ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (289ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:48 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 8:18 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west-northwest (282ยฐ) at an altitude of 11ยฐ from the horizon, 247,483 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:55 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 49 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 49 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 38 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 36 degrees at 4am. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 12th. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 38 degrees. The record low of 23 occurred back in 1965.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 63 degrees at 4pm. Typical for tomorrow. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 2009. 0.3 inches of snow fell back in 1928.โ„

Sounds like a remarkably nice spring day. โ˜€ I have to get early up tomorrow but I should have most of the day to enjoy spending in the woods. ๐ŸŒฟ I’m thinking about hiking in the afternoon and maybe hammock camping โ›บ in a state forest, although it might be a bit chilly and wet by morning. I think the rain is coming early come Sunday.

Looking ahead to Sunday, rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 52. East wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 63 degrees. ๐Ÿ’ฆ Definitely going to be a real dreary day. I’m going to have to get some more videos to watch from the library Wi-Fi and some more data to make up maps.

Paid my rent or actually the bank did ๐Ÿฆ as next week is May. Hopefully enough of my neighbors are too and my landlord isn’t going bankrupt. ๐Ÿก He does have a nice house over the river but who knows what his cash flow situation is like. I know a lot of out of work people aren’t paying rent. I also had to cancel the double bill for my car insurance – they kindly sent me a second bill for the time period with a later deadline and a reduced payment – but it meant that I cancel that from auto bill pay as I had already paid my bill for the next six months. ๐Ÿ’ต

I am still waiting on my stimulus check to arrive ๐Ÿ’ฐ but because I didn’t owe or get anything refunded from the federal government this year, I don’t think they have my information on file and the last I checked their website wasn’t working. I was hoping it would come sooner rather than later so I could use it partially to buy index ๐Ÿ“‡ funds when the market is still cheap. I’m young I’m not phased much about the sluggish performance of the market lately. I do think at some point Coronavirus will kill who it’s going to kill (hopefully not me or loved ones) and then we’ll move forward. Ten years from now I expect the markets to be a lot stronger and then I can buy land. ๐Ÿšœ

As previously noted, next Friday is May 1st ๐Ÿ•Š when the sun will be setting at 7:55 pm with dusk at 8:26 pm. On that day in 2019, we had cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 56 and 42 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2001.

April 23, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 43 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a east-southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear tomorrow around 6 pm.

I thought ๐Ÿ’ญ about an evening walk ๐Ÿšถ but it’s kind of a cold and damp night so I stayed home. ๐Ÿก Worked all day from home, it was nice enough this morning to have gotten out but still a pretty chilly morning. Saturday though I’ll spend most of the day hiking – probably Partridge Run but my mind may change. Going to be super nice on Saturday but the same won’t be said tomorrow.

Tonight will have a chance of rain, mainly after 4am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 38 degrees at 3am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 18th. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 42 degrees. The record low of 25 occurred back in 1965.

Tonight will have a New ๐ŸŒš Moon with 0% illuminated. The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:54 am, followed by dawn at 5:31 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:02 am in the east-northeast (72ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 3 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 31 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:40 am with sun in the east-northeast (78ยฐ). Tonight will have 10 hours and 11 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 37 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain, mainly before 1pm. ๐ŸŒง High of 45 degrees at 3pm. 17 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 18th. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 61 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 2001. 1.2 inches of snow fell back in 1967.โ„

I might go to the laundromat tomorrow morning ๐Ÿ’ผ and work from my truck while my clothes are in the machines. ๐Ÿ‘š They do have internet there which is nice. Kill two birds โœŒ at one stone. I also need to get to the store soon and probably the car wash maybe also tomorrow but it depends on how busy the day is. I want to shop at Walmart as I need socks among other things.

In four weeks on May 21 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (299ยฐ) at 8:17 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 30 minutes and 19 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 67 and 50 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 71 and 49 degrees. The record high of 92 degrees was set back in 1941.

Looking ahead, Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 2 weeks, Memorial Day Weekend Starts ๐Ÿ•๏ธ is a month away and Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 2 months.

April 15, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 40 degrees in Delmar, NY. I ๐ŸŒƒ There is a west-northwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 3 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I sat out back for a while. โœจ Kind of a starry night but admittedly it feels more like March then mid April. I guess I shouldn’t wish too much for balmy nights – they’ll be here before you know it. ๐ŸจI just hope the ice cream sales at Stewart’s return by then.

It was a nice day, fairly quiet day at work from home, ๐Ÿ’ป followed by a nice walk at Papscanne Island Nature Preserve. Went down to the laundromat mid day with my laptop. ๐Ÿ‘š ๐Ÿ‘– At the nature prserve there was lots of birds ๐Ÿฆ and wetlands to observe in the backwaters of the Hudson River ๐Ÿธ . I went there about five years ago now, I didn’t explore the area fully that time. While I left my camera home I took my phone with me and took a bunch of pictures that I’ll upload the next time I’m on the internet with my laptop. ๐Ÿ“ถ

I have a shopped at Aldi’s today, which despite spending $71 I still was missing some essentials. ๐Ÿ It’s a nice small store and it was quick in and out with folks sanitizing the carts out front – no quarter ๐Ÿ’ฑ required this time. I’m actually kind of wearing out my love for Aldi – I wish they had more bulk packaging and some of their prices really aren’t competitive with Walmart or even the overpriced suburban groceries around. That said, I did buy a lot of extra food for camp and next week so to avoid the stores as much as possible.

That said, getting home I forgot chillis for the burritos ๐ŸฅI plan on making up at camp and they didn’t have razors or beer or motor oil and night crawlers. ๐Ÿป I’ve been avoiding Walmart since the pandemic got underway but I may end up driving there and to the bank in Glenmont tomorrow, prior to my weekend trip. โ›ฝ Truck is all gassed up. I was trying to avoid going to the store again but I’ll try to do it at Walmart tomorrow in a one shot deal. Every time I go out in public even with the face mask – well the bandana ๐Ÿ˜ท – I know I’m expanding my risk of getting critically sick.

I was reading the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ and that 39 year old farmer and his pregnant wife with Coronavirus just outside Canastota. ๐Ÿ‘พThe farmer is hospitalized and is relatively healthy besides asthmaand probably a bit chubby too many years of drinking lots of milk straight from the bulk tank and take out in the tractor cab. ๐Ÿฎ Two of the farm workers are also sick says the article. Seems like Coronavirus is quite wide spread in the Central New York farming community from recent reports I’ve seen in the news. Madison County has been particularly bad on a per capita basis ๐Ÿ‘ฅand they have a lot of agriculture there especially in the hills and valleys of the southern part of the county. You wouldn’t think that the air flow of barns ๐Ÿฝ and UV light โ˜€ outside would be that conducive to the virus like the dense elevators and subways of New York City ๐Ÿš‰. It’s kind of scary as I know a lot of folks out in Madison County and and I have more in common with many of them as the densely packed New York City. ๐ŸŒ†

Tonight will have a chance of rain and snow showers between 11pm and 1am, then snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 31 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 31st. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 37 degrees. The record low of 22 occurred back in 1981.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter ๐ŸŒ— Moon with 39% illuminated. The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Friday, May 1. The darkest hour is at 12:56 am, followed by dawn at 5:45 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:14 am in the east-northeast (76ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 59 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 37 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:52 am with sun in the east (82ยฐ). Tonight will have 10 hours and 33 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 45 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 45 degrees at 3pm. 14 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 18th. Northwest wind 9 to 15 mph. That is going to be a cold one, probably one of the coldest on record for day time highs for April 16th. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 58 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 2012. 5.3 inches of snow fell back in 1983.โ„

Probably end up working inside as it will be too cold to sit outside despite the sun. โ˜€ I’m looking forward to nicer days and being able to work outside rather than the dungeon windowless office at work. Tomorrow I need to load up my camping gear, go through the checklist โ˜‘ and have everything ready to leave hopefully fairly early on Friday but it depends how busy I’m at work. That said, working from home means I’m parked right outside and it’s not a long jot to head out.

Looking forward to getting away for a few days โ›บ in the wilderness, at least before that is hopefully not banned. ๐Ÿ˜ง I haven’t done anything shooting in a few weeks with the range closed ๐Ÿ”ซ and I haven’t put in much time fishing ๐ŸŽฃ either and the last time I had a fire was New Years Eve. Might get a little snow on Friday night but I expect it will be gone by the time the sun โ˜€ comes up on Sunday. I’m hoping the federal government will sanction states that get too far out of line. Slowing Coronavirus is important but some things are getting way out of line. I’m going to bring my work laptop up there and briefly boot it to see if I can work from camp at a future week if I decide on a long weekend come May or June and don’t want to charge the time. I wish I could do a bigger trip but it’s kind of hard to ask for time off from work right now and I don’t want to buy gas or shop ๐Ÿช away from home where I lack hot water and soap to carefully wash my hands ๐Ÿ‘ as soon as I get home. It was bad enough today when I discovered after pumping gas that my spray bottle with rubbing alcohol was empty. I got to careful how much rubbing alcohol I put on my hands as they’re already getting dried out from the use. Most hand sanitizers also contain glycerin to avoid cracked hands but I haven’t been able to get glycerin at the store.

Taxes are paid. ๐Ÿ’ต I guess I could have delayed filling until July 15th but they were done weeks ago and there is another quarterly tax payment due then so why delay paying for a possible few pennies of interest. Got it done for a few months until next year. I was a bit concerned that the tax department had my old format bank account number on file and the website was down last week for fixing it but the transfer cleared without issue. โ˜บ

In four weeks on May 13 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (296ยฐ) at 8:09 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 18 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had rain and temperatures between 54 and 42 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 69 and 46 degrees. The record high of 86 degrees was set back in 2004.

Looking ahead, Earth Day ๐ŸŒŽ is in 1 week, Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 10 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 40 weeks.

 Flatwater Section Of Sacanadaga River

April 10, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Today is Good Friday โœ๏ธ! We remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the common man and the evils of the Roman government. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ Three weeks to May ๐Ÿ•Š. Cloudy and cold and 38 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Breezy, ๏ธ17 mph breeze from the west ๐ŸŒฌ with gusts up to 30 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. That wind is whipping around this morning. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around 4 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Got milk at Stewart’s ๐Ÿฎ and the clerk started coughing when I was checking out. I guess we are all so paranoid today as we don’t want to be quarantined or die. ๐Ÿ’€I am wearing my Don’t Tread on Me shirt ๐Ÿ‘š today that says, Live Free or Die on the back side. I saw the Meadow Brook Milk Delivery ๐Ÿšš truck as I walked down there. If I got milk delivered it would certainly mean a lot less plastic trash to either burn or recycle โ™ป. I really should consider supporting the local business although the plastic certainly is a lot more convenient during camping season. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Today will have a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 46 degrees at 1pm. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 21st. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1922. 5.7 inches of snow fell back in 1961.โ„

All I can say is yuck. ๐Ÿ’จ It seems like today will be a good day to stay home ๐Ÿก and make the politicians and bureaucrats happy. I really was hoping to get out camping up north โ›บ and then closer to home but not if the weather all weekend is going to shit. ๐Ÿ’ฉ Maybe next weekend we’ll get better weather.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.6ยฐ from the due south horizon (-15.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:55 pm with the sun in the west (276ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (282ยฐ) starting at 7:29 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 58 seconds with dusk around 8:01 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:36 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 41 degrees. Breezy, 21 mph breeze โ›… from the west-northwest with gusts up to 36mph. Today will have 13 hours and 11 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 48 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of rain showers, mixing with snow after midnight, then gradually ending. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 33 degrees at 3am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 5th. Breezy, with a northwest wind 13 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 29 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1874.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 49 degrees at 2pm. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 27th. West wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 87 was set in 2017. 1.7 inches of snow fell back in 1942.โ„

Even with tomorrow’s forecast it’s not going to be real nice and warm with the sun โ˜€. I don’t mind 50 degree weather but wherever I go in the mountains it’s going to be much colder. It guess if it was a regular weekend I might have considered it but I am willing to wait for nicer weather. As I was planning earlier in the week, I should go to Schodack Island or that bird ๐Ÿฆ sanctuary on the river and buy groceries at Aldi’s. ๐Ÿ I’m really into saving money ๐Ÿ’ต and their better quality of food ๐Ÿฒ for store brands compared to Hannaford or Shop Rite.

Looking ahead to Easter, partly sunny at least early, with a high near 61. โ˜€ Light south wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Maximum dew point of 40 at 6pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 56 degrees.

I am not convinced that Easter will be super nice. ๐Ÿฐ Maybe early on but I think clouds will push in early. Probably a good day to do my wash and maybe a hike on the rail trail to Normans Kill Falls assuming it’s not too crowded. Maybe later in the afternoon but I guess it depends when the rain pushes in. ๐Ÿ’ฆ

April 4, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday. Happy weekend! Spring is coming. Two weeks to Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ. A time of blue skies but more clouds are pushing in and 48 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›…There is a north breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. More sun then I had thought we would have today. The skies will clear tomorrow around 6 pm.

I am not really sure what my plans are for today. ๐Ÿ’ญ I might go down and hike at that bird ๐Ÿฆ preserve on the Hudson River and watch the river traffic, especially if it clouds up early or may be go out to Partridge Run. ๐ŸŒฒ I’d like to get some good hiking in and there are a lot of places in the back part of Partridge Run I haven’t been in years. ๐Ÿ‘ข Unfortunately my hiking boots are falling apart and the new ones are backordered so I have to be careful not to get my feet too wet.

Today will have a slight chance of showers before 10am. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 56 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 10th. North wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 79 was set in 1950. 4.3 inches of snow fell back in 2016.โ„ Definitely should be a nice day if the sun sticks around.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 53.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-17.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:48 pm with the sun in the west (273ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (279ยฐ) starting at 7:22 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 56 seconds with dusk around 7:53 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ Days are definitely getting longer. At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the east-southeast (118ยฐ) at an altitude of 46ยฐ from the horizon, 228,105 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:28 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 53 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 12 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 43 degrees at 5am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 1st. Calm wind. Almost like May Day, hopefully by when the bull sheet ends. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 25 degrees. The record low of 14 occurred back in 2016.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ when the sun will be setting at 7:41 pm with dusk at 8:10 pm. On that day in 2019, we had cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 58 and 46 degrees. We hit a record high of 90 back in 1976.
