I can’t breathe! ๐ŸŒซ๏ธ

For somebody in relatively good health, the unhealthy smoke filled air hits you when you step outside but I can only imagine how it can feel for people with asthma, breathing problems or a weak heart. I heard the cows aren’t loving the smoke either, they breathe in a lot more air then us humans.

Good morning! What day is it? A smoggy Day, of course. Canadian wildlife smoke, smog and 47 degrees for the morning walk out by the Elm Ave Town Park. โ›… There is a west-northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

Out walking ๐Ÿšถ early this morning, I figure before traffic and the smog gets worse. Plus it might be another long day at work and I want to get in at least six miles today, just like I did yesterday despite the late night, smog and much needed rain. โ˜” Already the AQI is above 150 and today may be worse for air pollution then yesterday. It’s a bit hard to breathe at times at least you have to work harder but I figure the added strain on my heart ♥ is better than getting out of the habit of exercising. Most other people are inside this morning. Not a lot of walkers or joggers out today.

Woke up last night after the rain โ˜” and got a deep breath of the smoke and coughed a bit. I guess it’s something people get used to, these levels of air pollution weren’t uncommon in big cities years ago or even Albany on hot summer days. But usually the heat and humidity hits you more when the air quality is bad. Especially now that the sun is rising as is the mercury you can smell the on smoke on the air. Kind of like wet campfire.

Today will have a chance of showers, mainly after 3pm. Widespread haze between 7am and 2pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 71 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 16th. Maximum dew point of 49 at 9am. Northwest wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. It became somewhat humid as the day progressed. The high last year was 80 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1999.

Yesterday session ended about 7:40 pm so I got stuck waiting for the 8:15 bus ๐Ÿš. It wasn’t bad in the sense it gave me time to walk some laps in the Capitol while I waited for the bus. Ended up doing a little more then six miles yesterday ๐Ÿ‘ฃ mostly because I did a midday walk on the Plaza to take in the air pollution and then laps in the office ๐Ÿข in the evening and later in the Capitol. I hate to break the pattern. It was better to walk inside in the evening as it was raining by the time I left and it was so smoggy out downtown and everything stunk like wet wood on the campfire. I wonder how much of the summer we will be dealing with bad air quality locally. I’m hoping tomorrow is the last day of session, though I’m prepared with one more set of dress shirts and pants if necessary for Friday and can press another shirt and pants into service or necessary or find time to do a load of wash at laundromat on Saturday, not such a thing is likely in my mind but it could happen. I’m ready for casual dress and 9-5 at work again.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:55 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.1° from the due south horizon (-0.7° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:49 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (296°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (303°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:31 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 25 seconds with dusk around 9:05 pm, which is 39 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:50 pm. At sunset, look for a chance of rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 60 degrees. The dew point will be 46 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 15 minutes of daytime, an increase of 56 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 49 degrees at 6am. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 19th. Northwest wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 61 degrees. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1951.

On this day in 1965, the Supreme Court of the United States hands down its decision in Griswold v. Connecticut, ๐Ÿ’effectively legalizing the use of contraception by married couples. An important decision but has been whittled down a lot since Row was overturned. I don’t like the celebration or promotion of abortion by Planned Parenthood and the alike but I don’t think the Supreme Court should have overturned that decision. Somethings should be condemned but kept private, civil matters.

The weekend has slid downhill a bit. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers after 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 72. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Maximum dew point of 54 at 7pm. Sunday, a chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 78. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 58 at 8pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 78 degrees. Still think it might be good for the Gas Up with Dad on Saturday โ›ฝ and doing some overnight hammock camping ๐Ÿ• and then a second day at the Gas Up, followed by hiking at Thacher Park. ๐Ÿž

Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 8:38 pm with dusk at 9:11 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 70 and 51 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 81 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1938.

As they say, all things must come to an end

The 2023 NY legislative session included. Nothing is longer than the present moment but nothing is quite as fleeting. But the best one could do is put one foot in front of another and apply more paint and bondo over the rust holes. I’m looking forward to summer and not having to wear my loose fitting dress shirts anymore, knowing that I can catch the 5 o’clock home every day.

Good morning! Today 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ . I guess that’s a sign of spring even if the mercury isn’t agreeing. Partly cloudy and 47 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a north-northwest breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

I got a good night’s sleep ๐Ÿ› that is relatively speaking but I’m still dragging my ass on the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ a few minutes late again. ๐Ÿข Maybe I’m fearing the week to come ๐Ÿ˜ฑ but I don’t know why as the latest night last week was 6 pm and often on the real late nights I can work from home.

Today will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 75 degrees at 4pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 31st. Maximum dew point of 48 at 10am. North wind 5 to 11 mph. I still haven’t needed to get my fan out of the closet. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 77 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1925.

Yesterday I made a 1 lb of black beans ๐Ÿฒ and baked up a bunch of chicken and asparagus for the week to come. I have plenty of rice ๐Ÿš and lentils cooked for the first half of the week plus a few pounds of spinach and kale in the freezer, along with lots of peppers, tomatoes and onions. I may need more fresh fruit before the week is done but I anticipate getting my truck and driving in on some of the late nights. Also need toothpaste ๐Ÿฆท but I’ll squeeze what I can out of the tube or cut open to get anything remaining out of the tube.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:55 pm with sun having an altitude of 69.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-0.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:47 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (295ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (302ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:30 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 25 seconds with dusk around 9:03 pm, which is 42 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:49 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 67 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 3 seconds over yesterday.

Barley and quinoa with frozen raspberries for breakfast ๐Ÿฅฃ this morning. I was hoping to find Juneberries in the woods this weekend without much luck. I think where I was looking has gotten too shaded in recent years. ๐Ÿ“ Then iron my pants and shirt while cooking ๐Ÿ•ด๏ธ, shower ๐Ÿšฟ and catch the bus downtown. ๐Ÿš Going to try to do this without racing ๐Ÿ out the door ๐Ÿšช today. Found another tick on me this morning. ๐Ÿœ Finished off the rest of the barley and quinoa, did a better job rinsing the quinoa which made it less bitter. I still need a better strainer for that.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 52 degrees at 5am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 29th. Maximum dew point of 46 at 6am. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 51 degrees. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1971.

Packed both a lunch and dinner tonight for work. ๐Ÿด๐Ÿง† Decided on a lighter lunch, with out the carbs as it seems like lately I’ve been overdoing it. Red onions, peppers, black beans for lunch. Dinner is rice, black beans, chicken, asparagus and kale. I’m worried about back sliding after last week. ๐Ÿคฐ๐ŸผPlus I know with work today it will be a fairly sedintary day, though I’ll try to get over to the legislative office building and Capitol during the day to get my steps in. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ I really want to walk at least five miles today. 3 miles so far.

A picture perfect weekend on tap for the Gas Up ๐Ÿšœ. Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 77. Maximum dew point of 54 at 8pm. Sunday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 78. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 55 at 9am. Should be fun with dad on Saturday and maybe I’ll hammock camp on Saturday night. Maybe go back to Gas Up โ›ฝ myself on Sunday after camping to see the parade. Just a thought. Typical average high for the weekend is 78 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until Average High is 80 ๐Ÿ– when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:11 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 73 and 50 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 80 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1995.

Flat Edge of Lester Flow

Honest I’m recovering from the Lupine Festival ๐Ÿฆ‹

I really tried to jam as much as possible in my Saturday as possible walking 9.8 miles, tabling for six hours, getting soaked and my camera lens fogged over for a hike off the Madison Avenue and then working about four hours as things have been super busy yesterday with work with the legislative session wrapping up.

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Partly cloudy and 52 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a west-northwest breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 47 degrees. The skies will clear around 11 am.

I’m finally out walking ๐Ÿšถ at 8:30 this morning. Heading out to Meads Lane ๐Ÿฎ and ultimately Five Rivers Environmental Education Center ๐Ÿฆ come mid morning. Oatmeal and banana ๐ŸŒ pancakes ๐Ÿฅž topped with blueberries which I’ve been delaying too long as they are so good. Blueberries do kind of spike your blood sugar but it’s fine.

Today will start out cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny โ˜, with a high of 72 degrees at 4pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 19th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 1pm. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was very sticky. The high last year was 91 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 1941. There was a dusting of snow in 1895.โ„

I figure the first stop is going to be Van Dyke Preserve ๐Ÿธ then maybe I’ll head over to Five Rivers to poke around there for a while. The home for lunch. ๐Ÿฒ Cooked a lot of cranberry beans up and plan to have them over the coming days with rice, the hot peppers I bought yesterday and other meals. ๐ŸดMaybe over done that jalapeรฑo pepper ๐ŸŒถ๏ธyesterday with the salmon and rice and kale but it was good. ๐Ÿ  Then out to the folks house ๐Ÿก for Sunday dinner. Maybe after which I’ll hike Bennett Hill before heading home and bed. ๐Ÿ›

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 67.5ยฐ from the due south horizon (-3.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:36 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (292ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (299ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:17 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 18 seconds with dusk around 8:49 pm, which is 59 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west-northwest (290ยฐ) at an altitude of 20ยฐ from the horizon, 247,641 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:32 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 65 degrees. The dew point will be 50 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 52 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Three day session this week, ๐Ÿข then two casual dress days at work. Could be another busy working weekend, but now the weekend forecast doesn’t look great. I’m thinking if there is one nice night during the long weekend it would be good to hammock camp โ›บ in the woods and then maybe visit John Wolcott another day. Finally got the spokes in for my bike ๐Ÿšฒ so I’m hopeful if the install goes well I’ll be close to getting it back on the road soon. Maybe if all goes well I will be able to ride my bicycle to my physical ๐Ÿง‘โ€โš•๏ธa week from Tuesday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 48 degrees at 5am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 16th. Northwest wind around 7 mph. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies. It was very sticky. It got down to 59 degrees. The record low of 33 occurred back in 2002.

Looking ahead, there are 3 weeks until the first Sunday of the Gas Up ๐Ÿšœ โ›ฝ when the sun will be setting at 8:34 pm with dusk at 9:07 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 78 and 50 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 78 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1947.

May 14, 2023 7 AM Update

Happy Mothers Day! ๐ŸŒท

As ol Merle Haggard would say, there are two kinds of Mothers. I’ve been called a mother before but I’ve not had any kids.

Good morning! Partly sunny and 43 degrees at the Cole Hill State Forest. ๐ŸŒž There is a north breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Thursday around 3 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Kind of a cold start to the morning ๐Ÿฅถ sleeping in the hammock. I wish I had brought more blankets but I survived. I wanted to go as minimally as possible and it gave me an excuse to get up and going at day break like I normally do.

Went for a nice walk to start the day, ๐Ÿšถ roughly five miles after taking down camp. Hiked some of the Long Path and the trail around the swamp. Had a small fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ last night, nothing major as I was wilderness camping and it was breezy though the flip side was there was an established fire pit there. Next time I go up there I’ll make sure to bring a chair as sitting on the stone I stacked wasn’t all that comfortable. No bugs but by morning it was pretty cold.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 59 degrees at 3pm. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 15th. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Going to be a cool day. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 84 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1900.

The plan is to have a nice pan ๐Ÿณ of eggs ๐Ÿฅš when I get home with lots of spinach and feta cheese and then get my clothes ๐Ÿ‘š unpacked from the wash yesterday, go to the car wash ๐Ÿšฟ, get groceries, top of the tank in my truck, โ›ฝ put the tire back on my truck ๐Ÿ›ป and then maybe in the evening ๐ŸŒƒ go for a walk. ๐Ÿšถ Maybe just the town park or Five Rivers though I was thinking about Norman’s Kill Falls or maybe the Rail Trail to the Bender Mellon Preserve. ๐Ÿ‰

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 66ยฐ from the due south horizon (-4.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:30 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (290ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ

I saw at the trailhead ๐Ÿ“„ somebody left a note about the passing of Forest Ranger Tom Edmunds. He used to patrol Burnt Rossman State Forest but I only met him once. I think he got transfered to Vermontville in the Northern Adirondacks a few years back. ๐Ÿ‹๏ธ Just another reminder how short life can be and why it’s important to eat healthy and exercise.

The sunset is in the west-northwest (297ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:11 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 13 seconds with dusk around 8:42 pm, which is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:23 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 52 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 37 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 8 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 39 degrees at 5am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 21st. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It was humid. It got down to 64 degrees. The record low of 31 occurred back in 1977.

I’m going to keep that campsite โ›บ in mind for Memorial Day Weekend in case I decide to do a quick overnight. Probably stay to close to home that holiday weekend as it depends on how much work I have to do. Hammock Camping is easy especially for a quick overnight. Next weekend is the Lupine Festival ๐Ÿฆ‹ and the first week of June if it’s nice I’ll either do Schoharie or Charles Baker and truck camp, especially if I have my bicycle ๐Ÿšฒ up and running by then. Second week of June I’ll probably be exhausted from work but I want to go with dad to the Gas Up, third weekend is Juneteenth Weekend and want to do four or five days at Piseco-Powley, taking off the Friday before Juneteenth Weekend so I can get the House Pond Campsite and if it’s more than three nights go up to Powley Place on the Sunday / Monday night when I can enjoy it without neighbors.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until the Gas Up โ›ฝ ๐Ÿšœ when the sun will be setting at 8:35 pm with dusk at 9:08 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 78 and 50 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 78 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1947.

 Reflection

May 11, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. โ˜บ

The sun is rising and I’m out walking. It was dark last night by the time I returned home from Five Rivers. Thought I would do like ten miles but it ended up being a hair over nine.

Still feels a bit cool out this morning. Sunny and 49 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž Calm wind. Then again do I really want to wake up and be Godsmacked by the humidity? Those days aren’t certainly far off. There is less than a month until the legislative session is done. I’m already thinking about heading up to the Potholers come the Juneteenth weekend.

Hazy this morning ๐ŸŒ† still from the Canadian wild fires. With the more stagnant air expected to move in both Western NY, along Lake Ontario and Downstate will have air quality alerts โš  today. I wonder how long before electrification makes air quality alerts less common. Although who knows with the increasing wildfires.

I’m out of coffee in the pot โ˜• this morning so I’ll have to make up some more. Going to reheat qieche I made last week and froze. Then I want to leave early enough to walk down to the Park and Ride to catch the express there. ๐Ÿš

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 77 degrees at 3pm. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 5th. Maximum dew point of 46 at 6pm. Not very humid. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 82 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1911. 0.5 inches of snow fell back in 1907.โ„

I have my repaired tire back and my suit jackets are getting dry cleaned. ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ’ผ It’s a casual dress day at work and I expect to be done by five so I’ll take the express bus ๐Ÿš both ways. Making a fresh pot of rice ๐Ÿš up this morning and probably will have with salmon ๐Ÿ  later on then head to the park ๐Ÿž to walk until dusk. I’ll put the tire back on Sunday after washing and lubrication.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 65.2ยฐ from the due south horizon (-5.6ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:26 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (289ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (296ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:07 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 12 seconds with dusk around 8:38 pm, which is one minute and 5 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:18 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 69 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 31 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 14 seconds over yesterday.

The Nature Bus to Thacher Park returns in two weeks ๐ŸŒฒ during Memorial Day Weekend. No schedule yet but I expect that probably in the next few days it will be released. It’s a fun way to spend a Saturday that doesn’t cost anything.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒƒ , with a low of 54 degrees at 3am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 2nd. Maximum dew point of 49 at 8pm. West wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 44 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1969.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 76. North wind 6 to 14 mph. Maximum dew point of 53 at 7am. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Maximum dew point of 36 at 9pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 71 degrees.

Pretty sure that Sunday I want to hike Blodgett Hill ๐Ÿšถ for another twenty miler but I could change my mind. Going to be a nice weekend for sure. Saturday most certainly I’ll be working.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until 9 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:27 pm with dusk at 9:00 pm. On that day in 2022, we had rain and temperatures between 69 and 60 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 76 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1918.

May 8, 2023 6 AM Update

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. โ˜€

Yes it has but it’s going to be a nice week for sure. Lots of sun, mild but not super hot.

Partly cloudy and 52 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a northwest breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 49 degrees.

You might say it’s a pleasant start to the work week. โ˜บ Can’t the weekends be more like that. I’m going a bit slower than I should but I’m out for the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ. Early enough not too many smoldering cars by the High School ๐Ÿšธ so far. After hiking Meads Lane and Five Rivers Environmental Education Center ๐Ÿธ it was 8.8 miles for Sunday.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 71 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 13th. Maximum dew point of 48 at 6am. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 65 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1936. There was a dusting of snow in 2020.โ„ Now that’s obnoxious.

I’m starting to wonder how long that nail has been in the tire. โšซ After airing that tire back up in Gilboa it looks like it hasn’t lost any air. Still I should have it pulled and plugged if possible. I’m thinking the rough roads could have lead to a little bit of air leaking out. I don’t want to mess with a tire plug myself, I’ll see if my shop can do it this week week. But in the meantime I should good with the full sized spare on.

I also need to get to the laundromat ๐Ÿ‘š to do a quick load of clothes this evening and get a few groceries to replace the ones consumed this weekend. I eat a lot of good food this weekend ๐Ÿ˜‹ but I don’t feel fat because it was healthy, good quality foods and I made sure to get in a lot of steps. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ Over 3/4 lb of kale plus lots of fresh blueberries. And the usual tomatoes, mushrooms and onions.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 64.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-6.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:23 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (288ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ

Back to fruit and oatmeal this morning. ๐Ÿฅฃ When I’m in the office ๐Ÿข all day I try to scale back the calories and boost fiber and maintain my healthy sugar levels by pulling from my fruit bowl at work.

The sunset is in the west-northwest (295ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:03 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 10 seconds with dusk around 8:34 pm, which is one minute and 6 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:14 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 60 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 25 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 19 seconds over yesterday.

I’ve been having trouble getting the bicycle ๐Ÿšฒ spokes in but I’m hopeful to make more progress on the bicycle come this weekend. I really would like to get the bicycle back on the road by June at this point.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 42 degrees at 6am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 29th. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm after midnight. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 35 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1956.

Another perfect spring weekend on tap for Mothers Day. ๐Ÿ’ Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 76. Maximum dew point of 53 at 8am. Sunday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 73. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 47 at 8pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 71 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 8:30 pm with dusk at 9:03 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 77 and 47 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 77 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1925.

May 3, 2023 Morning

One week until the average high is Seventy ๐Ÿ–

Not that it will feel anything like seventy degree weather today but it like next week will be far more seasonable.

Good morning! What day is it? The State Budget is Done Day, of course. ๐Ÿช Hump day and it feels good to be over the hump, knowing that there won’t be any really late nights anytime soon. Got home at 11:30 and that wasn’t so bad. And I’m up at six o’clock and out walking ๐Ÿšถ. Managed to get in 8.2 miles of steps in, working in steps into my day anyway possible. Sometimes the best thing to do is maintain a schedule and put one foot in front of the other.

Another really chilly start to the morning. Clouds and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜๏ธ Calm wind. The skies will clear Friday around 4 am. Hey, at least it’s not raining this morning.

Today will have a chance of showers, mainly after 11am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 52 degrees at 3pm. 15 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 1st. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 2001. There was a dusting of snow in 1986.โ„

I think I’ll reheat those eggs I made up yesterday ๐Ÿณ and a fresh pot of coffee โ˜•. I have been drinking coffee more black these days as it’s healthier and gives more of a punch ๐Ÿ‘Š but I’ll probably use some skim milk with the hot coffee. Also want to cook up some rice ๐Ÿš or coos coos this morning for lunch and or future meals. ๐Ÿด

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 63ยฐ from the due south horizon (-7.8ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:18 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (286ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ

The sunset is in the west-northwest (292ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:58 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 7 seconds with dusk around 8:28 pm, which is one minute and 7 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the southeast (129ยฐ) at an altitude of 25ยฐ from the horizon, 242,709 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:07 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 50 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 27 seconds over yesterday.

Decided not to go to Queens night ๐Ÿ‘‘ last night as I wanted to avoid all the unhealthy calories. ๐Ÿ›ป Instead I went home and got Big Red and also stopped by the store and got grapes ๐Ÿ‡. Sweet table grapes are kind of candy but they are better than eating candy. ๐Ÿฌ Late nights are tough when you are used to going to bed ๐Ÿ› early and getting up early.

Tonight will have a chance of showers. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 43 degrees at 6am. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 2nd. North wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2022, we had light drizzle. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1985.

A picture perfect spring weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, sunny, with a high near 64. Maximum dew point of 46 at 8pm. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 62. Maximum dew point of 43 at 11am. Typical average high for the weekend is 68 degrees.

A little on the cool side of things โ›บ but I’m thinking of taking a half day on Friday to get out of town. I’m still chewing over my options on where I want to go.

As a reminder, next Wednesday is Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ when the sun will be setting at 8:06 pm with dusk at 8:36 pm. The grass puppies and honestly myself likes that. On that day in 2022, we had sunny and temperatures between 77 and 39 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1970.
