Still raining out this morning โ˜”

God needs to fill the mud wallows up. But I think all this rain will lead to things rapidly greening up over the next week or so which is actually about normal for the Albany area.

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Rain and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” Breezy, ๏ธ20 mph breeze from the south-southeast ๐ŸŒฌ with gusts up to 38 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The dew point is 58 degrees. 0.2 inches of rain is expected before it ends around noontime.

I guess it’s busing it in this morning ๐Ÿš as it’s too wet to ride in. I do plan to catch the 7:15 downtown so I can walk ๐Ÿšถ the Concourse an hour before work. Didn’t get a lot of steps in yesterday. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ I guess I sort of made up by reading ๐Ÿ“– more though that exercises a different type of muscle ๐Ÿง  ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป. Maybe if the rain tapers off I’ll walk from Downtown to Menands, tha’s always a good walk.

Today will have showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 64 degrees at 12pm. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 27th. Maximum dew point of 58 at 6am. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Breezy, with a south wind 17 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 78 degrees. The record high of 84 was set in 1977. 3.3 inches of snow fell back in 1962.โ„

Johnny cakes this morning ๐Ÿฅž with lots of onion and tomato ๐Ÿ…. And too much red chilli ๐ŸŒถ pepper which had my nose ๐Ÿ‘ƒ running like I had a cold. Topped with cottage cheese and I was even green ๐Ÿ’šand washed out the container for recycling โ™ป. At least my stomach is feeling better than yesterday. ๐Ÿซƒ๐Ÿป Been going a bit over board with the cranberry beans, ๐Ÿซ˜ and the carrots ๐Ÿฅ• lately, though it also seems like in recent months my stomach has been a bit rough. Dinner last night was more of that chicken soup ๐Ÿ” and bread ๐Ÿž that I made up yesterday.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 56.3° from the due south horizon (-14.5° vs. 6/21). That sounds kind of like a shit day, ๐Ÿ’ฉ but it’s good for reading ๐Ÿ“– and maybe an early morning bike ride to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center ๐Ÿšฒ or Voorheesville. Everything though will be mud. ๐Ÿฝ But so be it. ๐ŸŒธ It might be fun to walk around Five Rivers and see the blooming plants, especially if I stay on the main roadways.

Looking ahead to Sunday, showers likely, mainly after 2pm. ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ Partly sunny, with a high near 59. Southwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Going to want those farm boots ๐Ÿ‘ข when hiking Bennett Hill this weekend. I also kind of want to get out to Partridge Run to do a hike, but only if it’s not a mosh pit. I think the snow is gone. Typical average high for the weekend is 58 degrees.

In two weekends, ๐Ÿ•๏ธ if the weather is decent I’d like to take off a Friday or Monday, or maybe both and plan out a 3 to 4 night camping trip somewhere. Maybe back to NY 8 East Branch, or maybe to Schoharie or Madison County. ๐Ÿฎ Not sure if the roads in the Green Mountain National Forest would be open, but that’s an option too.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ when the sun will be setting at 8:07 pm with dusk at 8:37 pm. On that day in 2023, we had sunny and temperatures between 77 and 39 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1970. Before my time, despite what the internet advertisers think.

Cold but beautiful

Rainy Thursday, Late Again โ˜”

I guess I won’t be heading in early this morning to walk laps on the Concourse though I should still be in on time to work which ultimately is what’s important. Kind of a dreary day but it’s nice that it’s warm enough to have my windows open.

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Rain and 50 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a southeast breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear tomorrow around 4 pm.

I really wanted to get an earlier start but it was not to be. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ My stomach was grumbling this morning and then I ended up going back to bed for some extra ๐Ÿ’ค sleep and then it just seemed like everything took longer than expected this morning. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Blueberry pancakes this morning. ๐Ÿฅž

Last night with the rain I came home on the bus ๐Ÿš and read for several hours. Similar to what’s going to happen today. Sucks that I won’t get a chance to get out walking but so be it.

Down By Long Pond

Probaby I’m a fool for riding my bike to work this morning ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

I am hoping the rain holds off for a while so I can ride to work. That said, who knows if I’ll get wet on the way in, and I concede I’ll probably be quite wet come the afternoon for the ride back to the express. I don’t expect to ride all that the way back to Delmar. It’s fine, I think we’ve made it to the mild part of the year, and I can’t imagine the green up is far away.

Good morning! Clouds and a bit damp with the breeze picking up, around 55 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜๏ธ There is a south-southeast breeze at 14 mph. ๐Ÿƒ with gusts up to 24 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The dew point is 43 degrees. The skies will clear Friday around 3 pm.

At five o’clock this morning โฐ I got the bread and spaghetti squash a cooking, along with a pot of cranberry beans. ๐Ÿซ˜๐Ÿž Two types of bread baked, one is carrot ๐Ÿฅ• bread and the other one is onion bread. ๐Ÿง… Dinner tonight, which I’m sure I’ll be enjoying after getting soaked on the ride home โ˜” will be chicken ๐Ÿ” soup. Eggs ๐Ÿฅš for breakfast.

Riding in this morning ๐Ÿšฒ but I concede it will likely be the last time this week. ๐Ÿ˜” Just going to rain most of the second half of the week. โ˜” Probably get wet riding from Menands to the old train ๐Ÿš‰ station in the evening waiting for the bus ๐Ÿš but in the evening I don’t care and can get changed when I get back home ๐Ÿก.

Today will have showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 61 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 18th. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1922. 5.7 inches of snow fell back in 1961.โ„

Not going to be the nicest day ever โ˜” but not so cold and I have to work. Plus I appreciate how mild it’s been and I’ve had my windows open helping to ensure lots of fresh air at night for good sleeping. ๐Ÿ› I feel well rested after last night with the windows open. ๐ŸชŸ I’m glad the nicer weather is back again. Yesterday felt so nice with the temperature reaching the mid seventies by afternoon with lots of sun โ˜€.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.5ยฐ from the due south horizon (-15.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). Today will have 13 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over yesterday.

Last night went to the park ๐Ÿž and read for a while before coming home to knead bread. Dinner was sweet potatoes ๐Ÿฅ” and onions and other good stuff. I didn’t carry a physical book, ๐Ÿ“™ just more reading with that Libby App. It’s pretty awesome. ๐Ÿ“ฑ

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 50 degrees at 5am. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 20th. Partly sunny, with a high near 62. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 46 at 7pm. At least it will be wet until the green up reducing the fire risk. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Typical average high for the weekend is 58 degrees.

Believe it or not there are 3 weeks until May ๐Ÿ•Š when the sun will be setting at 7:57 pm with dusk at 8:26 pm. On that day in 2023, we had rain and temperatures between 59 and 45 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 66 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2001. By then things should be greening up nicely at least outside of the high country and the Adirondacks. ๐ŸŒธ

Broken

Carrots are the magic ingredient in anything baked that’s good ๐Ÿฅ•

I do maintain that as I eat my ever so delicious pancakes. Just like with bread and cakes nothing beats the sweetness and softness that carrots bring to cooking. And that sugar high is great for the ride to work this morning.

Good morning! Tuesday, Tuesday. Second gear of the week. Mostly sunny and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. โ˜€ When there is no hope, there is spring. ๐ŸŒธ

Carrot pancakes again for breakfast. ๐Ÿฅž Johnnycakes last night for dinner. You know, loaded with onions, spinach and spices. They’re easy and taste so good. ๐Ÿšฒ Riding in early this morning so I can take the long way in on this beautiful spring morning. Feeling good after a good night’s sleep. No smoke alarm โฐ issues this night plus I sleep so much better with the windows open. ๐Ÿ› Smelled smoke when I awoke but it was wood smoke and not the least bit acrid so I figured it didn’t matter just a fire place somewhere.

Today will have increasing clouds โ˜€ ๐Ÿ‘‰ โ˜, with a high of 72 degrees at 4pm. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 17th. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the morning. I’d say this is yesterday’s forecast for the eclipse but it’s slightly warmer. A year ago, we had sunny skies. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 1991. 13.3 inches of snow fell back in 2000.โ„

New landlord emailed me said he was having somebody come by to inspect and measure the windows. ๐ŸชŸ Seems a little sketchy but I’ll make sure to have my curtains drawn when I’m walking around nakid, lol! ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ I’m glad at least it seems like they’re renovating the unit next door, but I do wonder what they’re doing measuring and checking the windows. Well, if I have to move I’ll have to move.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.2° from the due south horizon (-15.6° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:53 pm with the sun in the west (275°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (282°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:31 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 7:59 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west-northwest (281°) at an altitude of 11° from the horizon, 229,725 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:35 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 65 degrees. There will be a southeast breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 13 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over today.

It was nice enough last night to go down to the park ๐Ÿž after dinner and riding home ๐Ÿšฒ the long way. Finished through Chapter 36 of the Robert Caro’s Power Broker audio book – 45 hours but played at 2x speed so more like 22 ½ hours listened to so far. Only maybe 15 hours left, as the 1940s fade into the fifties, and Moses’ final big works with the Power Authority and the Cross Bronx Expressway and ultimately his downfall under Governor Rockefeller.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers after 11pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 47 degrees at 5am. 12 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 11th. South wind 6 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2023, we had clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1974.

Might do the park again ๐Ÿž though I need to find some more e-books to read next. ๐Ÿ“š That Libby app is so great. The rest of the week with rain coming looks like crap unfortunately for going to the park but I have conventional books I can read then. ๐Ÿž Going to bake bread and spaghetti squash tomorrow and soak beans for cooking in the morning. Thinking about making chicken noodle soup ๐Ÿœ for Wednesday, likely a cold and wet day. Though not too cold.

Weekend looks kind of cool and shitty like usual. ๐Ÿ’ฉ And I’m not talking about the cow crap they spread before the rain to soak it good into the ground. Saturday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 59. Typical average high for the weekend is 58 degrees. Maybe the following weekend I’ll take a long weekend to head out of town, depends on the weather.

But wait there’s more with, next Tuesday having an Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒท when the sun will be setting at 7:40 pm with dusk at 8:08 pm. On that day in 2023, we had partly cloudy, warm weather and temperatures between 78 and 57 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 60 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 2012.

Setting Sun

What a sloppy morning ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ

I couldn’t believe they sent a 120 person pusher bus out to Voorheesville this morning in all of the slop. At least it’s running close to on time.

Good morning! Happy Thursday. I’m not sure you can call it snow but it’s kind of white and sloppy and will get your boots wet. 33 degrees here in the Delmar. ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ There is a north breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 11 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Out walking on the Concourse this morning, ๐Ÿšถ getting in some steps before work. With the weather I’ve decided to work downtown, lest the roads get worse as the days progress. ๐Ÿšฒ I’m hoping the weather is good enough tomorrow to at least ride to work.

Today will snow before 2pm, then a chance of rain and snow. The snow could be heavy at times. ๐ŸŒง High of 37 degrees at 3pm. 15 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 24th. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 58 degrees. The record high of 79 was set in 1950. 4.3 inches of snow fell back in 2016.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 53.3° from the due south horizon (-17.5° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:48 pm with the sun in the west (273°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (279°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:25 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 56 seconds with dusk around 7:53 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:28 pm. At sunset, look for cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 57 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

Last night I had a nice pile of Johnny cakes ๐Ÿฅž for dinner and then sat back and read for a while about house building ๐Ÿก and then listened to more of the Power Broker. It was a rather rainy and cold evening but it was warm under the heated blanket.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers between 2am and 3am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 31 degrees at 6am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 1st. Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, a slight chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. North wind 11 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 50. Typical average high for the weekend is 55 degrees.

One month ๐Ÿ“… from now will be 8:30 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:00 pm.

Small Waterfall

I’ve decided to send a check to Protect the Adirondacks ๐ŸŒฒ

In related news, I’ve decided to buy a house in Clifton Park with vinyl siding, cathedral ceilings, marble counter tops, grid tied solar panels and a giant picture of Joe Biden in the living room. That sure sounds creepy. I am also buying an electric SUV to drive to work, and to Commissioner Grannis promise I’ll wash out and recycle plastics and not burn them any more.

Good morning on this first day of Trout Season! ๐ŸŽฃ Cloudy and 37 degrees at the Delmar, NY. โ˜ Calm wind. Good conditions for getting snookered on the interwebs or hitting the trout hole, although creek levels might be a bit high. Not much sun for shadows at all this week but the river levels will be rising midweek. The skies will clear Saturday around 8 pm.

My pantry is quite bare ๐Ÿฅš but I managed to cook some eggs with spinach and corn ๐Ÿณand bake some bread ๐Ÿž and a big pot of rice and split peas for dinner. ๐Ÿซ˜ Got milk ๐Ÿฎ for my coffee and I should be good โ˜• once I go shopping ๐Ÿ›’ tonight after dinner. I also plan to wash the salt off Big Red. ๐Ÿ›ป

Today will have a slight chance of showers between 11am and noon. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 55 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 6th. South wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 74 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 1986. 5.0 inches of snow fell back in 1924.โ„

Probably today is the best weather day of the week for riding to work ๐Ÿšฒ but I’m hoping at least to ride in again on Friday and maybe work the afternoon downtown and catch the bus home Friday. It’s fine, Tuesday evening when it’s raining I’ll bring my laptop ๐Ÿ’ป home as I need to work on a few things at home.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:00 pm with sun having an altitude of 52.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-18.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:45 pm with the sun in the west (271ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (277ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:22 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:50 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:24 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 50 degrees. There will be a south-southwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 48 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

I got to say I’m glad these days I’m no longer involved in the state budget or the Capitol Hill life. ๐Ÿ›๏ธIt’s nice having my evenings back and not sleeping under my desk or running reports at 2 am. It’s just another ordinary day ahead for me in the data services department. ๐Ÿ’พ Run reports, supervise data entry people, talk to the programmers. Fun stuff.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 37 degrees at 5am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 15th. Light and variable wind becoming north 5 to 9 mph in the evening. In 2023, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of 17 occurred back in 1964.

Besides shopping this evening ๐Ÿ“š I plan to do more reading of the e-books I got from the library. It was a bummer that you can’t read e-books more than two days after not having cell service but how often am I that far off the grid except camping at the East Branch Sacandaga River or Piseco-Powley. Most of the time, e-library books really are the way to go especially for the first two days. It’s so much easier to carry books on my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ. Plus no worries about them getting wet or damaged.

After a rainy week some improvements ahead. โ˜€ Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Typical average high for the weekend is 55 degrees. Not terrible for early April but still a bit cool. The following week might really feel spring like. But this weekend I’ll probably stay in town.

Not sure when my next trip will be โ›บ but not this weekend. I might do Charles Baker in Madison County come later April or Burnt-Rossman in Schoharie. Lower elevations will see spring first. ๐ŸŒธ All depends on how much it warms up next week. I wouldn’t mind taking off another Friday.

Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until Tax Day ๐Ÿ’ฐ when the sun will be setting at 7:39 pm with dusk at 8:07 pm. On that day in 2023, we had partly sunny skies and a nice warm day with a thunderstorm and temperatures between 84 and 52 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 59 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2003. I’d take weather like that for reading down at the park.

To ride or not to ride to work today ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

I think I already know the answer to that question, as much as I might not love the idea of riding South Pearl Street with the rough pavement, as I am sure there is still too much snow on the rail trail. Got to watch out for the black ice but I assume the bike trail and alike will be plowed in the city, just not down through the gorge. At any rate, Corning Hill is kind of a blast on the bike.

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Sunny and 29 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž Calm wind. There are 4 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธ Alas that’s the only thing giving me pause, as I doubt I can do the rail trail. But by evening the rail trail might be passable, or certainly by tomorrow. Wednesday might rain, and Thursday I might drive in if I plan to head to the Adirondacks after work, assuming I get Good Friday off. โœ๏ธ

So it’s the week leading up to Easter Weekend. ๐Ÿ‡ I am still hoping to have Good Friday off. That said, Thursday looks a bit wet ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ so maybe I won’t head north until early on Good Friday. I am determined to get bacon ๐Ÿฅ“ at For the Love of Bacon, as while it’s not something I’d eat regularly it’s such a wonderful treat. ๐Ÿ– And your supporting local agriculture while getting a product made out of simple ingredients. I’m not a bacon and eggs each morning kind of person — but a little bit of bacon and bacon grease as a treat spread over a few weeks or months is wonderful. Lard is kind of a wonderful thing. ๐Ÿซƒ  I should bring a snow shovel and salt though if heading up north, as there is a chance I’ll need it. But at least fire danger should be relatively low  ๐Ÿ”ฅ for my mostly DEC compliant 3-foot campfire. I should bring a ruler ๐Ÿ“ to measure it, and not burn it, lol. ๐Ÿ˜ธ I just don’t like when people burn pallets and leave nails out for people to run over with their 35-inch tires. ๐Ÿ›ž Plastic, I don’t care as long as I don’t have to smell it and it fully burns up or is packed out. ๐Ÿ‘ƒ

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 46 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 19th. Light and variable wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, which became light drizzle by afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 74 was set in 1910. 1.9 inches of snow fell back in 1960.โ„

Yesterday I hiked Bennett Hill ๐Ÿšถ‍โ™‚๏ธ after the ice storm.  ๐Ÿ”Œ The power was back on by the time I got back from my folks house, I’m glad about that as otherwise it would have been a very cold and dark night. Didn’t help that I had left the heat at 48 degrees the night before, so things really dropped after the heat quit working at 1 AM the previous night. I was a bit worried about pipes freezing, though that has yet to happen even in the coldest weather, though I do remember them being a bit frozen after the 2009 Ice Storm when I lost power for three days. ๐ŸŒž And despite all the sunshine, it still was dark in my bathroom without windows, though what I ended up doing was drawing the blinds and leaving the bathroom door. Still I was super cranky about losing power, again for the second time in like two weeks.

Then I went out to my parents house for Sunday dinner of riggies ๐Ÿ, which is far more white pasta then I normally eat but it’s nice to have them as a treat while my family is still around. ๐Ÿ‘ช๏ธ I talk about how close I am to early retirement in 13 years, 10 months and 4 days, and for people who are older that seems like a lifetime — at least a remaining lifetime. But I do agree I really should be spending a least some of that time exploring America. If I want to move out (mid) west, I should explore it first.  ๐Ÿ›ป If it means boarding a plane โœˆ๏ธ and renting a car ๐Ÿค‘ and spending some money, then so be it. Then later in the evening, I went for an evening walk.  ๐Ÿšฒ๏ธ Never got test my adjustments to the bicycle gears  โš™๏ธ over the weekend, but I’m sure it will be good enough and I can tweak tonight. Probably won’t be riding home but will catch the bus home due to snow/ice remaining on the bike trail.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 49.4° from the due south horizon (-21.4° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:37 pm with the sun in the west (267°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (274°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:14 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:42 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:16 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 41 degrees. There will be a east breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 28 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 55 seconds over yesterday.

This evening after I get home I’ll probably have a quick dinner of sweet potato  ๐Ÿฅ” and some fried veggies, ๐Ÿง… and then go for evening walk before doing some reading ๐Ÿ“š๏ธ using that Libby app on my phone. I like E-Books whenever they’re available as it avoids a trip to the library, plus I don’t have to worry about getting the books wet and dirty, and I can bring them under the covers in my bed, which is good with the heated blanket, as especially once we get past today. I plan to read e-books exclusively when I head out of town this weekend — I’ll have to make sure the ones I have are downloaded to my phone.๐Ÿ“ฑ Unfortunately my phone is starting to fall apart, so I may have to think about replacing it soon.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 26 degrees at 4am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 17th. East wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. In 2023, we had light drizzle in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of 0 occurred back in 1885.

Spoke to my neighbor about the garbage pile  ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ last week and he still hasn’t done anything to address it. He said he was holding it to take to his parent’s dumpster but had forgotten about it. I just don’t like how animals have gotten into it and I’m finding litter now. I wouldn’t care if he had secure garbage cans.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž The only real question in my mind will I get off Good Friday. And can I leave early on Thursday? For Good Friday Eve, a chance of showers before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Chance of precipitation is 40%. For Good Friday, partly sunny, with a high near 48. Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Easter, partly sunny, with a high near 47. Typical average high for the weekend is 51 degrees. That sounds like a winner, though it only can slide downhill from here. Not as warm in Adirondacks, but I’ll take that weather for late March.

As previously noted, next Monday is April Fools Day ๐Ÿคก when the sun will be setting at 7:23 pm with dusk at 7:50 pm. On that day in 2023, we had rain and temperatures between 74 and 41 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 52 degrees. We hit a record high of 77 back in 1986.
