Good evening! Moon lit fog and 47 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒซ Calm wind. Another nice moon lit night for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป ๐ŸŒ– with temperatures starting to cool off a bit.

It was nice hiking up at Partridge Run ๐Ÿฆ† although while I saw some common field birds and a few Ruffled Grouse not a lot of wildlife but it may have been the time of day. ๐Ÿฟ So many chipmunks but the woods is so full of rodents lately.

Had a really nice Sunday dinner with the folks ๐Ÿฒ and brought home some leftovers for later in the week. I had to tap my brakes when I saw a deer ๐ŸฆŒ and it fell off the seat but it was fine. Also mom made a good apple ๐Ÿ pie ๐Ÿฅง.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒซ with a low of 43 degrees at 4am. Typical for tonight. Calm wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 34 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1965.

I decided to close the windows tonight, โฌ› because the past few mornings have been very cold for waking up. While I doubt I’ll turn the heat on for at least another month or so โ™จ it’s cold enough at night now that I think ๐Ÿค” I’ll be closing the windows before bed at least a few times a week.

Tonight will have a Waining Gibbous ๐ŸŒ– Moon with 90% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the east (89ยฐ) at an altitude of 20ยฐ from the horizon, some 251,380 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by April 13th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The New ๐ŸŒš Moon is on Tuesday, October 20. The darkest hour is at 12:45 am, followed by dawn at 6:29 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:57 am in the east (95ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:35 am with sun in the east-southeast (102ยฐ). Tonight will have 12 hours and 26 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 66 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 1st. Maximum dew point of 48 at 12pm. Light south wind. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1941.

Should be a nice Monday to get down to work. ๐Ÿ’ผ Probably work down at the library parking lot ๐Ÿ…ฟ for a while and then out back. With the sun setting early not a lot of time to get down to the park ๐Ÿž after work these days.

My boots ๐Ÿ‘ข are in rough shape so I need to order tomorrow replacements. Probably just the same type I have and get them online to ensure they have my size without having to make a special trip to the store ๐Ÿฌ to buy them.

In four weeks on November 1 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (251ยฐ) at 4:47 pm (Standard Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 43 minutes and 14 seconds earlier then tonight. Standard time starts that day. In 2019 on that day, we had cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 70 and 42 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 54 and 35 degrees. The record high of 78 degrees was set back in 1950.

Looking ahead, November ๐Ÿฅง is in 4 weeks, Day After Election Day ๐Ÿ›€ is a month away, First Sunday of Advent โœ๏ธ is in 9 weeks, Average High is 40 ๐ŸŒจ is in 2 months, Saint Nicholas Day ๐ŸŽ… is in 9 weeks, Latest Sunrise of the Winter ๐ŸŒ„๏ธ is in 13 weeks and Valentines Day โค๏ธ is in 19 weeks.

October 3, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Two weeks to Northern Zone Regular Season ๐ŸฆŒ. Bow started on Thursday. ๐Ÿน Partly cloudy and 43 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… Calm wind. The skies will clear around 7 am.

Kind of a cold start this morning. โฌœ Maybe I should have closed my windows before bed because the middle of the night it was pretty cold. But when I get up in the morning I’ll have some coffee โ˜• and then take a hot shower ๐Ÿšฟ.

I kind of slept in ๐Ÿ’ค because it was such a cold and cloudy morning. ๐ŸŒฅ A little more sun as the day progressed but not a really nice day.

Today will have patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 59 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 17th. Maximum dew point of 47 at 10am. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 52 degrees. The record high of 83 was set in 1967. There was a dusting of snow in 1974.โ„

I thought about driving ๐Ÿš˜ out to Beebe Hill / Harvey Mountain in Austerlitz but I’m not sure how nice of a day it will be. It’s probably just far more economical to hike out to Five Rivers this afternoon. ๐Ÿฆ And bird watch there. Maybe next weekend if things arent too busy with work I’ll go out to Beebe Hill.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:45 pm with sun having an altitude of 43.2ยฐ from the due south horizon (-27.6ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. Much less sun this time of year. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 5:57 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (259ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (265ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:34 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:00 pm, which is one minute and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:35 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 56 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 11 hours and 37 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 37 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 23rd. Light and variable wind. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 41 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1948.

Sunday I’m going out to the folks house. Maybe hike at Thatcher Park although higher locations might be better for enjoying the colors. ๐Ÿ‚ I am thinking about doing the same road hike I did at Partridge Run. Or maybe a different loop. โžฟ I am considering my options. Then go out to my parents house for Sunday dinner. ๐Ÿฒ

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Northern Zone Regular Season ๐ŸฆŒ when the sun will be setting at 6:09 pm with dusk at 6:37 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 52 and 46 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 59 degrees. We hit a record high of 85 back in 1947.

That weekend I’m thinking of heading out to Madison County. ๐Ÿฎ I don’t want to go Columbus Day Weekend โ›ต to avoid the crowds at Stoney Pond or Cherry Ridge although I admit by then the colors may be past peak. ๐Ÿ‚ Who knows what the weather is going to be like.

I am continuing to work on improving my blog theme. ๐Ÿ—๏ธ I keep finding little things especially with the mobile version. But I’m generally happy with how things turned out.

Good evening! Mostly clear under the Harvest Moon and 48 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒ• Calm wind. A bit cool sitting out back but the moonlight is nice and it won’t be long before the evenings are too cold to sit out back.

It’s been a busy and crazy week ๐Ÿคช with so many changes to the world and work that seems non stop, sometimes going into the wee hours of the morning. ๐Ÿ’ค Between retiring to bed early last night ๐Ÿ› and sleeping in on the dark rainy morning I did get well caught up on my sleep.

The whole thing about the president getting Coronavirus ๐Ÿ‘พ is both totally crazy and predictable. ๐Ÿ˜ท Nobody likes wearing a mask or having to social distance but it seems that it makes a big difference. Virus math is tough to beat. That said with the president’s advanced age and less than physically fit body ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป I can’t imagine he will survive it without serious health consequences.

I already really like my new blog theme ๐Ÿ“ which is probably one of the most minimalist themes I’ve ever used but I think it does a really nice job of displaying my photos ๐Ÿ“ธ and sharing my world. ๐Ÿ‘ค I like telling my story and then from time to time flipping on back. Fixed a few things in the mobile ๐Ÿ“ฑ version but there is still more to fix.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, partly cloudy ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 41 degrees at 6am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 10th. Light northwest wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 46 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1945.

Going to be another cool night but I like the fresh air ๐Ÿƒ so I think I’ll leave the windows open and snuggle under the cover. ๐Ÿ› Going to be sixty tomorrow and with the sun will be plenty warm.

Tonight will have a Full ๐ŸŒ Moon with 98% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the east-southeast (111ยฐ) at an altitude of 28ยฐ from the horizon, some 252,227 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by April 12th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The New Moon is on Sunday, October 18. The darkest hour is at 12:45 am, followed by dawn at 6:27 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:55 am in the east (94ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 6 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:32 am with sun in the east (101ยฐ). Tonight will have 12 hours and 20 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 60 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 15th. Maximum dew point of 47 at 10am. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 52 degrees. The record high of 83 was set in 1967. There was a dusting of snow in 1974.โ„

I need to get contact solution and butter ๐Ÿช so I probably need to go to the grocery store tomorrow. I might just also walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป out to Five Rivers ๐Ÿฆ and do some bird watching. Plus I want to trim my hair ๐Ÿ’ˆ with the cutting tools I have and take a shower ๐Ÿšฟ – the last time I bathed was Tuesday because I’ve been remote working and I don’t need to be really clean for Zoom although I have been shaving and washing my face.

I want to get out camping ๐Ÿ• and traveling again soon but it’s tough being so busy with work these days. I’m hoping to do one trip out to Madison County on a few weeks – although probably not Columbus Day Weekend โ›ต as I want to avoid the crowds. ๐Ÿ‘ช

In four weeks on October 30 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (251ยฐ) at 5:50 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 44 minutes and 5 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly cloudy, warm, rain showers and temperatures between 63 and 57 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 54 and 36 degrees. The record high of 80 degrees was set back in 1946.

Good evening! Partly clear and 58 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒ• Calm wind. Sitting out back, although a few clouds are pushing in. Nice evening not super cold. Bright out with the Harvest Moon ๐ŸŽ‘ but already the clouds are pushing in. ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ

First day of October ๐ŸŽƒ came and went quickly. Busy but rather uneventful and it was nice enough I could sit outside and work for a while. ๐Ÿ’ป Remote work has its benefits when the weather is nice for sure. I was looking at the back of my truck thinking it would be nice to get out camping soon โ›บ but not this weekend, I have too much going on and I don’t think it will be that nice of a weekend.

Finally got shopping ๐Ÿ›’ this evening but I came close to getting into a crash on my way home. ๐Ÿ’ฅ Never saw the car coming ๐Ÿš˜ until both of us slammed on our brakes. It was a busy day and I hadn’t had dinner yet and I was tired ๐Ÿ˜ด and distracted. Such a busy day and my mind was wandering. I shouldn’t have been driving. ๐Ÿก I am glad when I work downtown there is the bus ๐Ÿš to take me home.

It’s been such a busy past few days at work. ๐Ÿ’ผ It doesn’t help that I’ve gotten into the naughty habit of staying up much too late so I’m not preforming my best and I’ve struggling to keep my eyes open ๐Ÿ‘€ between the emails. ๐Ÿ“ง My phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ first rang at 9:01 am and kept ringing except for a few minutes when my phone pinging from email. ๐Ÿ”ข. Some of the stuff today was painfully difficult number crunching too. Tonight I’m in bed ๐Ÿ› and will be sleeping by 11 tonight. I’ve been making the excuse that I can sleep in the mornings as I don’t have a bus ๐Ÿš to catch but that’s a lousey excuse because I still wake up early with the sun. ๐ŸŒ…

I went for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป and that was non eventful except for a car I walked past that was pulled over with a headlight out. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ I wonder how many police officers will be without a job come Election Day. ๐Ÿšจ While politicians can’t fire civil servants that endorse their opponents I think it’s obnoxious that so many of the units are going so strongly for Trump and the fear of crime thing. ๐Ÿ˜จ It’s stupid messaging when crime is so low and local government budgets are so tight. ๐Ÿ’ต

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after 4am. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 48 degrees at 4am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 25th. Light northwest wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It was humid. It got down to 49 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1972.

Tonight is the Harvest Full ๐ŸŒ Moon. At 10 PM, the moon was in the east-southeast (123ยฐ) at an altitude of 31ยฐ from the horizon, some 251,648 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by April 10th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Hunter ๐Ÿน Moon is on Saturday, October 17. The darkest hour is at 12:46 am, followed by dawn at 6:26 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:54 am in the east (94ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 7 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:31 am with sun in the east (100ยฐ). Tonight will have 12 hours and 18 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have showers likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 60 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 15th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 11am. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. It became humid as the day progressed. The high last year was 75 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1927. There was a dusting of snow in 1899.โ„

I have a Zoom Meeting tomorrow so I’ll probably work from the library. ๐Ÿ“™ It’s pleasant now that the weather is cooler. I also have an updated theme and look and feel for the blog that I will make live tomorrow. I’ve been testing it for a week now. ๐Ÿ’ฃ It’s mostly just CSS style sheet changes but I think you’ll like it.

Think I heard the first mouse in my apartment this year. ๐Ÿ Nights are getting cold. With the mice as bad as they are in the woods maybe I should try a drowning bucket trap this year to see how many I can catch. Or get a cat. ๐Ÿ™€ My last neighbor had a cat, never had any mice then. I don’t like pets but when I have a hobby farm I could see having a cat to control rodents in the barnyard ๐Ÿ but I do worry about the impact on the birds ๐Ÿฆ.

In four weeks on October 29 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (252ยฐ) at 5:51 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 44 minutes and 29 seconds earlier then tonight. And only 13 weeks until we say goodbye to 2020. It’s been a fun year, as John Lindsey would say.

Looking ahead, Average High is 60 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 2 weeks, November ๐Ÿฅง is a month away, Thanksgiving ๐Ÿฆƒ is in 8 weeks, December ๐ŸŽ„ is in 2 months, 7:15 AM Sunrise โŒ›๏ธ is in 10 weeks, Christmas Eve ๐ŸŽ… is in 12 weeks, New Years Eve ๐ŸŽ† is in 13 weeks, New Years Day 2020 ๐ŸŽ‰ is in 3 months, Coldest Week of the Year ๐ŸŒฌ is in 15 weeks, Wolf Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 17 weeks, February ๐ŸŒง is in 4 months, Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day ๐Ÿฅ› is in 19 weeks and National Drink Wine Day ๐Ÿท is in 20 weeks.

Listened to the debate this evening on the radio ๐Ÿ“ป. Nothing too surprising, Trump is a hell of a bully but in the same way a very good debator even if half of the things he says makes a little sense and the other half are untrue. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ But it still was an entertaining program while I washed my buckets and gear from camping and put stuff away and cleaned the kitchen floor ๐Ÿคฃ.

Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. ๐ŸŒง Low of 57 degrees at 6am. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 5th. Good evening! Clear and 55 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒŒThere is a northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 42 degrees.

This evening after work I was back over at John Wolcott’s house, continuing to look through his Fort Orange file. ๐Ÿ“‚ I found some interesting photos which I posted last night. โš’ It was a a nice evening but by the time I had dinner it was too late for the evening walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป.

I really enjoyed being downtown at working in a real office. ๐Ÿข Simply said, my wooden chair on a painters bench isn’t really comfortable for working and both the cellular internet and the Wi-Fi at the library parking lot ๐Ÿ…ฟ are slow compared to working directly over the ethernet with the big monitor I have at the office. ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ I think as long as the pandemic remains in control I will start working downtown on Tuesdays going forward ๐Ÿ™, but heading in and staying late to avoid crowded buses. ๐ŸšŒ

Tonight will be clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 48 degrees at 5am. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 24th. Northwest wind around 8 mph. Tomorrow I want to get packed up for camping ๐Ÿ• and go grocery shopping. ๐Ÿ›’ I am out of most food ๐Ÿฒ so I ended up eating the last of the pasta I had at home which was okay ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป but nothing to celebrate. I especially don’t like eating a lot of pasta before bed ๐Ÿ› but I was hungry and that’s all I had.

That article on Vermont banning disposable glass bottles was definitely an interesting one. ๐ŸถWhile many recycling programs claim to take back glass โ™ป, in many cases its a scam because the recycled glass is just pulverized and used for landfill road backfill instead of gravel. Glass is such a nuisance in farm country to this day, it gets into hay and kills cows and cuts feet. Farm trash dumps are full of it because it doesn’t burn. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Plastics may also be problematic but at least it tends not to be quite as harmful as glass, at least mechanically but it is more toxic โ˜  when it goes up into smoke or is ground up in the water or soil. Honestly, the solution is more refillable containers like used to be common. As the sign at Byrne Dairy says, get your milk in (returnable/refillable) glass and have less trash. โฌ‡๏ธ๐Ÿ—‘

Good morning! Happy Average is High 70 ๐ŸŽ‘ ! Won’t be that hot today but it’s a true sign that autumn is coming on Tuesday. Next Sunday has More Night then Day ๐Ÿ€ผ/strong>๓“€ฎ Partly cloudy and 41 degrees at the Black Creek Marsh WMA. โ›… Calm wind. The skies will clear around 8 am.

Out hiking and bird watching ๐Ÿฆ after the first frost of the year here. Cool but nice. Still not a lot of leaves in color and while I saw a doe ๐ŸฆŒ and some Blue Jays, a big fat Catbird and accidentally flushed out a grouse ๐Ÿ•Š I am hearing more birds than actually seeing them.

Had a quick cup of coffee โ˜• and made some pancakes ๐Ÿฅž before rushing out here for the first break of daylight. I hope I remembered to turn off the kitchen stove but if not the stove is on low and its a cast iron pan ๐Ÿณ so I’m not worried. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ It’s mostly just a waste of electricity and maybe a need to regrease the pan after washing.

In the afternoon I’ll probably hike at Partridge Run ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป although I’m still considering my options. ๐Ÿ’ญ I am heading out to the folks house for Sunday dinner later on. Going to cool but still a nice day. Might want to get out there early so I don’t have to drive home when it’s pitch black out. With the rut underway, ๐Ÿ†I find myself constantly scanning left then right, to avoid possibly hitting a deer ๐ŸฆŒ.

My socks ๐Ÿงฆ were absolutely gross again when I took them off last night. I don’t know if it’s the boots ๐Ÿ‘ข or just my sweaty feet with the corn meal ๐ŸŒฝ based foot powder ๐Ÿ‘ฃ that replaced the talcum powder which isn’t sold anymore due to asbestos contamination. But they are soaking against in the laundry soap so I’m hoping the muck will come out. I will agitate them a bit and rinse them before pulling out of the bucket and putting in the wash – they just aren’t coming out real clean.

Still need to get the new battery ๐Ÿ”‹ in my laptop. It should really improve the rate of battery life but unfortunately on this laptop it’s not a plug ๐Ÿ”Œ and play battery, you have to physically disassemble things with care to replace the battery.
