Good morning! Happy Sunday. Rain showers and mostly cloudy with a few breaks of sun and 65 degrees, in a hammock at Cole Hill State Forest in Berne, NY. โ˜” There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 64 degrees. The skies will clear around 3 pm.

So last night I went to Grace’s summer party at her mountain farm. ๐Ÿ‘ Beautiful land and old hippie type of farm house ๐Ÿก surrounded by wildflower gardens up a steep mountain. She’s still working in Albany, going to be a heck of a commute for her come winter.

Afterwards I decided to spend the night up at Cole Hill State Forest. โ›บ Just a simple set up with a hammock strung between some trees and flashlight ๐Ÿ”ฆ. I didn’t bother with a fire, I just laid back listening some podcasts under the moonlit skies. I didn’t even pack anything for breakfast, I’ll eat when I get home.

It wasn’t a bad evening ๐Ÿ’ฆalthough there was a a few rain showers during the middle of the night and I ended up splashing DEET on due to the mosquitoes. ๐Ÿœ

Today will have a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 10am. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฉ, with a high of 82 degrees at 4pm. Typical for today. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 86 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1975.

I have the kayak and fishing pole on me ๐ŸŽฃ and I’m thinking of heading over to White Birch Pond to do some fishing later. I guess it depends on how hungry I am or if how much rain we get early ๐Ÿ’ง, I don’t really have any additional food on me. As morning has broke the day has gotten nicer but there is still a lot of storms popping up on the radar. โšฝ

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:04 pm with sun having an altitude of 64.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-5.8ยฐ vs. 6/21). Today will have 14 hours and 25 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 14 seconds over yesterday.

I tell you, every time I am out in the country ๐Ÿฎ I am super jealous about those who make a living and a place to live in the mountains. ๐Ÿ—ป Some day I tell myself, I just need to work hard and save more money.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Partly sunny and 63 degrees at the Green Mountain National Forest. There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 61 degrees. Not super hot but I expect it to get warmer later on.

Cooking up some eggs and sausage for breakfast. ๐Ÿณ I expect a hot day today but I’m fine with that. It should be a nice day and I’ll cool off down at Grout Pond later on in the day. ๐ŸŠ

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 78 degrees at 4pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 16th. Maximum dew point of 65 at 4pm. Muggy though. South wind 6 to 9 mph. That will help. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1988.

On this day in 1981, U.S. President Ronald Reagan appoints Sandra Day O’Connor to become the first female member of the Supreme Court of the United States. ๐Ÿ‘ฉThat’s almost as cool as sliced bread, which is sold for the first time by the Chillico the Baking Company in 1921.๐Ÿž

Hot, humid and wet this weekend. ๐Ÿ˜ฐ Saturday, a chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Maximum dew point of 70 at 12pm. Sunday, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Maximum dew point of 68 at 11am. Like a swamp. Looking ahead, there are 17 weeks until Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:40 pm with dusk at 5:10 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny skies, with rain showers and temperatures between 53 and 30 degrees. Sounds nice compared to the hot weather of recent. But I was so sick last year with Lyme. Typically, the high temperature is 53 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1990.

Near Dusk

June 29, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 69 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a north breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 63 degrees. The skies will clear Wednesday around 6 pm.

All day there was a pretty good threat of downpours โ˜” but except for one mid day not too much rain. I got everything I needed done for the day – groceries, laundry, library books and updating the blog. ๐Ÿ Work was pretty quiet so I just brought my laptop down to the laundromat and worked there. ๐Ÿ‘š I started reading this book about cabin life tonight ๐Ÿ“– and caught up on the YouTube videos that I had downloaded.

Tonight will be scattered showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then isolated showers. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 63 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 63 at 9pm. North wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. The record low of 47 occurred back in 1938.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon with 70% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the south (190ยฐ) at an altitude of 39ยฐ from the horizon, some 226,647 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by December 18th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Buck ๐ŸฆŒ Moon is on Saturday, July 4. The darkest hour is at 1:00 am, followed by dawn at 4:47 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:21 am in the east-northeast (57ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 28 seconds. Sunrise is 29 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:04 am with sun in the east-northeast (64ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 44 minutes of darkness, an increase of 35 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be scattered showers before noon, then scattered showers and thunderstorms between noon and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 80 degrees at 3pm. One degree below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 25th. Maximum dew point of 64 at 7am. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 98 was set in 1964.

I decided the noise I heard from the truck while disconcerting ๐Ÿš˜ doesn’t warrant immediate attention as I think it’s just the new ball joints complaining at the more extreme steering angles but they’re going to just do that. That’s part of the lifted truck. I’m not noticing any further issues so I don’t think they’re is anything to repair but I’ll talk to the shop that did the lift kit once I’m working downtown again if things get worse. I just don’t want things to break in the wilderness if I can avoid it and likewise I’d rather not spend money fixing a noise that’s going to exist regardless. ๐Ÿ”ง

I’ve been thinking about my next trip. โ›บ I’m kind of tired of the Adirondacks and seeing that Cherry Ridge and Long Pond State Forest Camping areas are open again that might be my next trip. Maybe go swimming at the Glimmerglass beach? ๐ŸŠ Never been to that park in the summer.

I am thinking for summer vacation to do a Western Adirondacks and Tug Hill trip this year, ๐Ÿ˜Ž and maybe spend some time exploring the Saint Lawrence County state forests. I haven’t put in any time yet for summer vacation but maybe I’ll do late July or early August.

In four weeks on July 27 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (297ยฐ) at 8:20 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 16 minutes and 22 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had hot, mostly sunny, patches of fog and temperatures between 88 and 61 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 82 and 62 degrees. The record high of 97 degrees was set back in 1955.

 Sun in the Clouds

June 7, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 56 degrees at Mason Lake. There is a north breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. New campsite, new location to comply with the maximum three night stay at any one location.

I was actually curious if the state camping regulations had location defined. โ›บ Looking through the state code it’s not defined anywhere in law, indeed on the DEC website they use the word place rather than location – which actually is a more vague term. While this campsite is clearly a different location and it’s even a different unit and near a different geographic location it is technically the same road, 5 miles north. It’s kind of a moot point because last week the Forest Ranger was fine with it I was wondering if there was clear statutory guidance. I think moving from one campsite to another across the street wouldn’t count but within reason a few miles away counts as a new location. A lot of people seem interested in the campsite I’ve been staying at previous nights and now its free. ๐Ÿ“

Hiking back to Wilcox Vly was nice. ๐Ÿ“ท Lots of big moose prints on the trail and when I got back to the Vly I heard something big crashing through the brush. Maybe it was a black bear ๐Ÿป but it sure sounded like a moose. I tried to spot it with the binoculars but I didn’t get a good view. Based on the wear of the trail it seems like Wilcox Vly isn’t real popular but it’s easy to follow ๐Ÿ‘ฃ due to being an actively maintained snowmobile trail and old woods road. Certainly didn’t see a single other person beyond Fawn Lake. Pictures to be posted later in the week. ๐Ÿ“ท

I did look at the Robert Garrow campsite โค๐Ÿ”ช but decided against it due to the poor cellular service ๐Ÿ“ถ. It had great sun exposure compared to the site I’m up at Mason Lake but I’ll try to conserve power tomorrow. I could move the truck to a sunny spot or even drive down to Speculator but I’d rather try to work from camp and save the 10 mile trip each way. ๐Ÿ”Ÿ Tuesday I’ll probably take down camp at work in Speculator until five then go home. ๐Ÿก I could stay at this campsite through Wednesday morning but I’m getting tired and think after five nights I’d rather sleep and work at home for a few days. Not sure when my office will be reopening but I wouldn’t be surprised if thst happens next week and that’s the end of remote work. Fun while it lasted.

Called mom up to check and see how she was doing. ๐Ÿ“ž I know they’re pretty bummed about Eli the dog dying. ๐Ÿถ I think it’s a mistake to get that invested in a dog but he was fun to walk and run downstairs and do the wash. It’s kind of sad how he passed away while I was gone during the pandemic. I told my parents that I might go out and visit them next week while maintaining social distancing. ๐Ÿ‘ช I’m hoping soon things will get closer to normal.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 42 degrees at 6am. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 30th. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 53 degrees. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1951.

I decided against a fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ (shocking) and hooking up the electric lights or the flags tonight as I’m tired ๐Ÿ˜ด and want to keep things simple and get to bed early. My energy levels are low after hiking and it’s kind of a chilly night so I want to get to bed early as I’ve been waking up early on these sunny mornings and not getting enough sleep.

Plus this gives me an excuse to run the lantern ๐Ÿฎ full blast to try to burn out some of the carbon in the unit. I did try banging and brushing off the mantle outlet that wasn’t putting out much light which was modestly successful. Previously taking apart the lantern last December helped a lot but there is still a lot of carbon build up inside. I usually run the lantern on the lowest setting and between that and the inevitable mud and dirt that gets in it, it gets gross inside with black carbon. At least since the last cleaning it’s not burning a sooty yellow with black smoke and is quite bright ๐Ÿ”† – fine for reading ๐Ÿ“–.

Tonight will have a Waining Gibbous ๐ŸŒ– Moon with 93% illuminated. The moon will rise at 10:48 pm. The darkest hour is at 12:57 am, followed by dawn at 4:42 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:18 am in the east-northeast (57ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 31 seconds. Sunrise is 16 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:01 am with sun in the east-northeast (64ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 39 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 53 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 68 degrees at 3pm. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 12th. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 80 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 2011.

Should be a nice day for working. ๐Ÿ’ผ I am right near Mason Lake so I can do some more fishing ๐ŸŽฃ after work. I’m just worried a bit with the shade trees overhead that the laptop may drain the battery bank ๐Ÿ”‹ although I do think I’m okay based on the fact that the laptop is 97% charged and it has a good long life estimated – over eight hours and I’ve been saving power on my truck using the gas lamp so that should be close to full come morning. And I’ll use my phone rather than the laptop as much as possible for email and other things to save power.

Tuesday I’ll work down in Speculator ๐Ÿ’ป probably using the library Wi-Fi. I’m not worried about power then as it’s expected to be sunny and the solar will more than certainly hold up. Drive home at five. I thought about staying in the Adirondacks through Wednesday ๐Ÿ—ป when the heat wave breaks again but it might be stormy then I’d think I’d rather be home before then.

In four weeks on July 5 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:41 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 4 minutes and 58 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had hot, humid, partly sunny and temperatures between 92 and 69 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 82 and 61 degrees. The record high of 99 degrees was set back in 1919.

April 26, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. โ›ช I guess if you have internet at home you can stream virtual church but I’d rather spend my time in the wilderness. ๐ŸŒฒ God can be heard by listening to the birds ๐Ÿฆ which I still enjoy giving the middle finger too. Two weeks to Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€. Time to get out that Frank Zappa record, Motherly Love. ๐Ÿ˜ Cloudy and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Rain is definitely coming…. For most of the next week according to the radar. ๐Ÿ’ฆ There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear Tuesday around 2 pm.

I don’t know, maybe last night would have been fine in the woods ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณโ›บ but it wasn’t a real starry night ๐ŸŒƒ with the clouds pushing in early and the breeze pushing in and things super dry and buggy in the hill towns. ๐Ÿœ I was planning on going to Rennselearville State Forest to hammock camp but I think I’ll wait until the nights are warmer and less buggy. I think yesterday the black flies had just hatched from the warm weather.

Even though I didn’t camp ๐Ÿšถ I had a nice day when I started out at Black Creek Marsh (highly recommended early mornings, especially off Depot Road) and then hiked up old Partridge Run Road to Fawn Lake then over to the Gulf and ultimately along the ridge line. I mostly shot those photos ๐Ÿ“ท with the other camera, I’ll upload them this week. I was darn tired ๐Ÿ˜ด when I got home and went to bed.

Today will rain, mainly after 11am. ๐ŸŒง High of 55 degrees at 9am. 13 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 29th. Temperatures will drop through the day, their getting snow in the mountains late. โ„Right now though I have my windows open for fresh air but I’ll close them before I go to the store. South wind 7 to 9 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 61 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1990. 0.3 inches of snow fell back in 1993.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 61.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-9.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:12 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (283ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (290ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:50 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 8:20 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (272ยฐ) at an altitude of 32ยฐ from the horizon, 242,202 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:58 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 43 degrees. There will be a north-northeast breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 35 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain. ๐ŸŒง Low of 38 degrees at 11pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 18th. Just a cold wet rain here. North wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1963.

Plans for today include washing the truck ๐Ÿš˜ and running to Walmart. ๐Ÿช Hopefully it won’t be too crowded but there is a lot of things I need and today would be a good day to do it. I have some projects coming down the pike on Monday for work so I expect a busy day then. Next weekend it might be a good week to go back to the Adirondacks for the weekend depending on the weather. I want to do a trip out to Schoharie but not until things green up in in May.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€ when the sun will be setting at 8:05 pm with dusk at 8:37 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 69 and 52 degrees. I remember, I was camping up at Stewart Landing and it was kind of a cold and wet morning. Typically, the high temperature is 68 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1970.

Echo Lake Leanto

April 24, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Next Friday is May 1st. Been such a cold spring it’s hard to imagine that next week is May. It’s only just starting to green up in Albany. ๐ŸŒธ Rain and 41 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a north breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. 0.14 inches of rain is expected before it ends around 4 pm. Not a lot of rain predicted and Saturday will be nice.

Coffee โ˜• and wild berry muffins this morning for breakfast. Also cream cheese. It was a pretty decent breakfast not as heavy or labor intensive as making eggs ๐Ÿณ like I did yesterday. No birds ๐Ÿฆ out the window to give the middle finger too. I do get a laugh ๐Ÿ˜‚ out of giving the bird to the birds. I’m sure my neighbors think I’m nuts.

Wish it was nicer out but I really shouldn’t complain much ๐ŸŒป– I am sure hot and humid days are right around the corner. It will kind of suck this year if state park swimming ๐ŸŠ pools are closed because of Coronavirus.

Today will rain likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 53 degrees at 4pm. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 4th. North wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 61 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 2001. 1.2 inches of snow fell back in 1967.โ„

Kind of a dreary day for sure. ๐Ÿ’ฆ April Showers bring May flowers although they’ll be no tulip festival ๐ŸŒท this year not that I ever went to that except for tabling for Save the Pine Bush a few years ago. But it’s nice when things green up except of course for the black flies.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 60.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-10.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:10 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (282ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (289ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:48 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 8:18 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west-northwest (282ยฐ) at an altitude of 11ยฐ from the horizon, 247,483 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:55 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 49 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 49 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 38 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 36 degrees at 4am. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 12th. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 38 degrees. The record low of 23 occurred back in 1965.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 63 degrees at 4pm. Typical for tomorrow. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 2009. 0.3 inches of snow fell back in 1928.โ„

Sounds like a remarkably nice spring day. โ˜€ I have to get early up tomorrow but I should have most of the day to enjoy spending in the woods. ๐ŸŒฟ I’m thinking about hiking in the afternoon and maybe hammock camping โ›บ in a state forest, although it might be a bit chilly and wet by morning. I think the rain is coming early come Sunday.

Looking ahead to Sunday, rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 52. East wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 63 degrees. ๐Ÿ’ฆ Definitely going to be a real dreary day. I’m going to have to get some more videos to watch from the library Wi-Fi and some more data to make up maps.

Paid my rent or actually the bank did ๐Ÿฆ as next week is May. Hopefully enough of my neighbors are too and my landlord isn’t going bankrupt. ๐Ÿก He does have a nice house over the river but who knows what his cash flow situation is like. I know a lot of out of work people aren’t paying rent. I also had to cancel the double bill for my car insurance – they kindly sent me a second bill for the time period with a later deadline and a reduced payment – but it meant that I cancel that from auto bill pay as I had already paid my bill for the next six months. ๐Ÿ’ต

I am still waiting on my stimulus check to arrive ๐Ÿ’ฐ but because I didn’t owe or get anything refunded from the federal government this year, I don’t think they have my information on file and the last I checked their website wasn’t working. I was hoping it would come sooner rather than later so I could use it partially to buy index ๐Ÿ“‡ funds when the market is still cheap. I’m young I’m not phased much about the sluggish performance of the market lately. I do think at some point Coronavirus will kill who it’s going to kill (hopefully not me or loved ones) and then we’ll move forward. Ten years from now I expect the markets to be a lot stronger and then I can buy land. ๐Ÿšœ

As previously noted, next Friday is May 1st ๐Ÿ•Š when the sun will be setting at 7:55 pm with dusk at 8:26 pm. On that day in 2019, we had cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 56 and 42 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2001.

 Cat Tails

April 4, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 53 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Calm wind. The dew point is 43 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 10 pm.

It’s a nice evening, sitting out in the bed of my truck after the evening walk ๐Ÿšถ. I opened the container of Christmas ale ๐Ÿป that I got at Christmas and it’s good and 9 percent alcohol. I won’t need a sleeping pill ๐Ÿ’Š tonight after two good size mug fulls. First alcohol I’ve had since my birthday ๐ŸŽ‚ .

It turned out to be a lot more sunny โ›… and nice day then previously predicted. Walked about ten miles at Partridge Run. Started at Bradt Hollow Road and Beaver Road to Sickle Hill Road to High Point Road to the Long Path past the big swamp to a snowmobile trail that runs southerly to a clearing that runs along the property line up to Cook Hill and the newer part of Partridge Run Game Management Area then bushwhacked down to a stream and deep Ravine to Cook Hill Road to Bradt Hollow Road than took the gated southerly section that goes back to field that overlooks a hollow, North Hill in Rensselaerville and the Catskills. I also tried bushwhacking back to a large pond – actually a swamp back that way and I spotted several geese and wood duck. ๐Ÿœ Fortunately didn’t find any ticks on me when I got home but I did find one crawling on me when I was hiking.

At the end of the day I was thinking it would be a nice night to camp โ›บ overnight but I didn’t bring any food with me and had eaten my lunch already and it was getting dark. Plus I knew tonight would be a fairly cool and long night. But I was tempted to just get my hammock out, swing by one of the nearby state forests, grab some blankets and hoodie, start a small fire, ๐Ÿ”ฅ put on some music ๐ŸŽถ and then in a few hours all it a night in the hammock. But I knew by morning that I’d awake and be cold and have to try getting back to sleep ๐Ÿ˜ด until daybreak. It’s still early April and while the low in Albany is 45 degrees, it would be a fair bit colder done morning. I haven’t hung out in the hammock since autumn, I wouldn’t mind breaking it out for a good nap in the woods, especially when it gets a bit warmer, agree all two weeks until the average day is in the sixties. It’s actually a bit surprising how do far this year we haven’t had any real warm days. Maybe during the long weekend. Certainly there are some state forests in the western part of Albany County that are good for hammock camping.

At 10 PM, the moon was in the south-southeast (162ยฐ) at an altitude of 60ยฐ from the horizon, some 227,975 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by September 24th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ Ursa pretty bright moon lit night. The Pink ๐ŸŒธ Moon is on Tuesday, April 7. The darkest hour is at 12:59 am, followed by dawn at 6:04 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:32 am in the east (81ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 56 seconds. The high last year was 42 degrees. The record high of 82 was set in 1928. 2.1 inches of snow fell back in 2019.โ„

Maybe tomorrow will turn out relatively nice like today. โ›… That said no big plans for tomorrow, just early to the laundromat and get groceries than back home. Maybe go for a walk around town, we will see or down to the park โ›ฒ. That said, between the ticks on the grass and the possibility of picking up COVID-19 from the park bench, it will be more of a walk ๐Ÿšถ there to get podcast than an extended stay. I do want to try to get the revised blog theme done and some fixes to my photo upload code.

Monday looks quite nice, ๐Ÿ˜Ž I plan to do my morning shift from my backyard and then go out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center to save bandwidth on my employers network card and be able to use my personal laptop for downloading videos and maybe activating the new blog theme.

No certain plans for the long weekend ๐Ÿฐbut truth be told I have some ideas. Nothing in stone yet but I’m watching the forecast and if things suck Thursday night I might leave early on Good Friday. To be safe I’ll get gas and all supplies โ›ฝ before I leave to ensure that I can wash my hands well. That said I’m a bit concerned that the forecast is trending cloudy โ˜ and cooler for the Easter holiday.

In four weeks on May 2 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (292ยฐ) at 7:57 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 49 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 65 and 50 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 65 and 43 degrees. The record high of 90 degrees was set back in 2018.
