September 29, 2016 Morning
Good morning! Happy Thursday. Cloudy and 57 degrees in North Syracuse. There is a east breeze at 10 mph. The dew point is 49 degrees. As noted last night, we are in a stretch of mostly cloudy weather through the weekend. Look for the skies to clear Monday around 6 pm. We often get stretches of cloudy weather interspersed with rain as October is nigh. Tomorrow is the last day of September, after all.
Today will have a chance of showers, mainly between 9am and 3pm. Cloudy, with a high of 66 degrees at 4pm. One degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 51 at 1pm. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. We aren’t going to get the big rain that is expected for southern Pennsylvania, which may exceed 5 inches. The record high of 86 was set in 1921.
The sun will set at 6:47 pm with dusk around 7:15 pm, which is 1 minutes and 47 seconds earlier than yesterday. Today will have 11 hours and 46 minutes of daylight, a decrease of 2 minutes and 55 seconds over yesterday. Just wait until November, and that’s when the days will be real short. The more I think about those shorter days, the more challenging a potential trip down to West Virigina and the Blue Ridge Parkway would be as I would have to plan to end my days real early and get an early start. But it still might be fun.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 52 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 49 at 6pm. East wind around 8 mph. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1991. Warm but not a real wash out.
There are 1 week until Last Recorded Day Above in 90 in Albany when the sun will be setting at 6:35 pm with dusk at 7:03 pm. The average high temperature is 64 degrees, with a record high of 90 in 1900. Memories of summer are rapidly fading in the rear-view mirror.
