Visting Back Portion of Thatcher Park

On a blustery Saturday afternoon I decided I wanted to go for a walk at Thatcher Park. I hadn’t been in the back portion of Thatcher Park in a while and thought it would be an interesting place to go for a walk.

I passed by this marsh in the back of the park, noticing very little wildlife, just the dried up marsh.

Along a rather rutted old trail, that they must have brought a pickup truck up when it was still wet.

Past the Thatcher Park Maintenance Yard.

And their burn pile, where they had previously been burning old picnic tables (creosote!), and mattresses (decaDBTE!).

Out to the Overlook Viewing Area, on a rather clear day, but one where the browns where prevelent.

Up past an old water tower…

Then past the old Paint Mine Creek…

Then I hiked back to my pickup truck. I heard some shots ring out in the distance from deer hunters, but Thatcher Park in the main park here, does not allow hunting. It was a nice afternoon, even though it was a bit cold and gray.
