June 24, 2015 evening

70 degrees with a strong breeze. Clear with the stars out and crickets singing their song. Now that it’s finally dark, the half moon is showing.

These long nights are nice, especially with the pleasantly dry but warm air. Went down to the park for a while before it got dark and went for a walk. Better enjoy them now, as starting July 2nd, the sunset comes earlier.

The long range looks great for the Independence weekend but with work constraints and hopefully selling my wheels, I probably will get stuck in town this last  weekend of June. That’s fine as Independence Day Weekend falls on a Friday and I will likely take off Thursday if I can.

I feel like it will be really nice up at Moose River Plains. I haven’t been up there since last September but now I’m pretty ready to get up there, especially now that I have a 35 inch spare and a good battery monitor on both batteries. Independence Day Weekend is always fun with fireworks and the fact that the black flies will be mostly gone by then. I could use a good campfire in the woods.

Weather is hard to guess a month in advance but I’m hopeful to spend a good portion of the month camping from Independence Weekend through a Finger Lakes Gorge trip to a trip to the Potholers or Schoharie County. If session ever adjourns, I’ll be able to get some time off from work.

I’m off to bed as I’ve spent too much time up late this past week.

Independence Day Weekend, the First Call

The long-range forecast looks nice for Independence Day Weekend, with clear and cool conditions expected for the weekend. They’re talking low 70s for a high in Central Adirondacks. Independence Day (Saturday) may be the most humid portion of the weekend with potentially severe thunderstorms in the afternoon.
