November 18, 2015 update

Good morning. Certainly a sunny and cold start to this Hump Day. We are up to 30 degrees on the way to 50 degrees. Midpoint in the day is 11:40 and sunset at 4:30 PM. Waxing Gibbous Moon getting larger every night and setting later every night as well head to the full moon on November 25, the night before Thanksgiving. That means the evening before Thanksgiving will be perfect for a little turkey trot.

Watching the lake effect warnings to see how and if they will effect my North Country trip. I think where I’m camping is pretty much out of the lake effect region of the state, but I think I will avoid coming back via the Western Adirondacks and the Tug Hill. The lake effect country is expected to get 1 inch of snow on Sunday evening and 3-5 inches on Monday day time and “multiple” feet between Monday 7 PM and Wednesday afternoon. Massena’s forecast just an inch on Sunday night and no snow expected during the following week. Each day I’m planning on leaving the Massena part of the North Country sometime on Monday morning.

Lake Effect snow can be pretty variable.Β But I will keep a careful eye on the forecast.Β I don’t care if there is an inch or two of snow, as I won’t be camping that far back from the blacktop road, and the roads are pretty flat up in the North Country. My truck is 4×4 and lifted so it will go through probably up to 1/2 to 1 foot of snow if I absolutely had to. I have a weather radio on my truck. It looks like I will have cellphone service based on my provider’s map, and if lake effect patterns change, I wouldn’t be surprised if the ranger comes around to warn me and others who are up there hunting.

Didn’t catch any more mice last night. I no longer hear them in the wall and it looks like the bait on has been untouched. I guess I’m winning the war on mice or maybe they’re just hiding out. I caught four, how many more can there be? I guess I need a cat.

My laptop is upgraded to Ubuntu 15.04 and it mostly works except Bluetooth audio still is broken and the PHP interpreter did not install on upgrade, which sucks as I use PHP for many tasks including mapping on my laptop. I don’t think it will be a difficult fix.

November 18, 2015 morning

Good morning on this chilly morning. Currently 23 degrees and clear this morning. Feels colder this morning than your typical Republican who wants to deny refuge status to Syrian children fleeing war, only a month before Christmas. Turning on the heat will help warm up things a bit.

Later it will warm up a bit but still be chilly. Increasing clouds, with a high near 50. Light southeast wind becoming south 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph.
