The final point heading south

Today I reached the most southerly portion of my road trip, taking the Blue Ridge Parkway until Milepost 93, about 20 miles from Roanoke, Virginia. I’m still three days and two nights away from home but it seems at one level this trip I planned for over half a decade is nearing it’s conclusion.

It’s been a beautiful six days and evenings now, seeing some amazingly beautiful places I will forever remember. More adventures lay ahead, as I plan to take an alternative route back home then the one I took here. But I am still heading north. All good things must come to an end.

I started planning for this trip over a half decade ago in 2010 – and almost took this trip in 2011 except with my old Ford Ranger this trip was not to be. I was preparing for this trip when I found out my old truck needed extensive repairs to keep it on the road. That’s when I bought Big Red.

I am a bit sad. But I will forever have good memories for this trip, long after I return to Albany on Sunday.
