September 9, 2017 8 AM Update

Good morning! Happy Saturday. Partly cloudy and 53 degrees in Delmar. There is a northwest breeze at 5 mph. The dew point is 47 degrees. Some blue skies and clouds around. But cool.

Today will have a slight chance of showers after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high of 66 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 50 at 1pm. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies with some clearing in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 87 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1959.

The sun will set at 7:14 pm with dusk around 7:42 pm, which is one minute and 46 seconds earlier than yesterday. At sunset, look for partly cloudy conditions and 61 degrees. The dew point will be 50 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 44 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low of 48 degrees at 5am. Six degrees below normal. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph. In 2016, we had partly cloudy skies with more clouds in the early hours of the next day. It was humid. It got down to 67 degrees. The record low of 34 occurred back in 1978.

A bit chilly this morning but it will warm up as the day progresses. I plan to hook up the relay today for the CB radio and get the propane tank filled and kayak racks back on the truck. Probably go out paddling and fishing tomorrow on Tompkins Lake. After being out of town so many weeks lately I just need a break. I don’t think the relay will be difficult to wire but I will need to visit Advanced Auto for some more wires and clips.

Next weekend if it’s not too cloudy and rainy, I plan to head up to the Adirondacks for the weekend. Or maybe not. We will see. I might instead hold off for the following week and take a long weekend to Moose River Plains to go camping. All these trips after a while become just a lot of time packing and unpacking.

As previously noted, next Saturday is Lowville Cream Cheese Festival when the sun will be setting at 7:01 pm with dusk at 7:30 pm. On that day in 2016, we had heavy fog, fog, patches of fog, mist, partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 75 and 43 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 72 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1939.
