September 25, 2017 10 PM Update

Good evening! Mostly clear and 72 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The dew point is 67 degrees. This evening for unpacking my camping gear feels more like summer then autumn. It certainly wasn’t this hot and muggy up north at Moose River Plains. Those of us unluckily enough to be back in the city, will be dealing with his muggy weather through Thursday morning.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low of 64 degrees at 6am. 17 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 67 at 10pm. Calm wind. In 2016, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 37 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1947.

Tonight will had a Waxing Crescent Moon which has now set. It was a pretty nice, thick looking crescent moon.  The First Quarter Moon is on Wednesday night with isolated t-storms. The Hunter Moon is on Thursday, October 5th. The sun will rise at 6:47 am with the first light at 6:19 am, which is one minute and 5 seconds later than yesterday. Tonight will have 12 hours and 2 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over last night. It’s the first night of the year with more darkness then light, and it certainly seemed like the sun’s set early driving back home.

Tomorrow will have patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high of 87 degrees at 3pm. 19 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 67 at 11am. Calm wind. Another really hazy, hot, day in the city. Get out and enjoy it before it turns cold this weekend. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 68 degrees. Which actually is pretty close to normal. The record high of 89 was set in 2007.

A cool but very autumn like weekend on tap for our first weekend of October. Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 63. Maximum dew point of 44 at 6am. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 67. Maximum dew point of 45 at 8pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 66 degrees.

In four weeks on October 23 the sun will be setting at 5:59 pm, which is 46 minutes and 27 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2016 on that day, we had rain, mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 57 and 42 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 57 and 37 degrees. The record high of 81 degrees was set back in 1947.

Looking ahead, Average High is 40 is in 7 weeks, Christmas is in 3 months, Election Day 2018 is in 58 weeks and Election Day 2020 is in 162 weeks.
