Amazing Day. It was such an amazingly clear and beautiful day, looking out off of Smith Hill / White Rock at the Petersburgh pass.

No Snow in Snow Hole. I looked deep in the snow hole, but at this time in early September, there was no snow to be found. Sorry kids!

The Snow Hole. Snow Hole in the Taconic is a cavern in the rock, deep in the woods that is legendary for holding snow late into the summer, long after the snow is melted from the surrounding areas.

Back in NYS. When your along the Taconic Crest Trail in New York State, it's usually marked with Blue NYSDEC markers. When you cross into Massachusetts, it's usually the white diamond markers. Same trail, different jurisdictions.

Muddy Area. This section happens to be in Massachussets, and under the control of Williams College / Hopkins Memorial forest, with the most delightful little bridges to cross the muddy section.
