Bennett Hill
on December 19, 2010.

A series of photographs taking on top of Bennett Hill in Clarksville. These are the pictures I took on that particular Sunday in December.

... locations of photos are estimates that were done using heads-up digitizing.

Starting Up the Bennett Hill Trail. Fortunately, not enough snow to require snowshoes at this time.

Rutted Old Logging Road. Most of the trail follows an old logging road up the mountain, rutted from a tractor taking it up in the spring.

Another Steep Ascent. The new Red Trail up Bennett Hill is quite steep in parts, going right up the face of the hill. In contrast, the Blue Trail, following the old logging road is a walk in the park. It's more popular going down then up, but still interesting to view at the top of the mountain.

Bathtub Springs. The water flows through the dirt, collected together by a wall of clay on one side and sand on the other. The collector box collects the water, where it flows into a pipe, then into the bathtub. This is a re-creation of the system used by a local farmer years ago to water his sheep.
