June 10, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Well, Thursday round number 3. It was Thursday morning when I left the office 🏒 at one AM then Thursday morning when I went out to Five Rivers to see the solar eclipse and its still Thursday when I’m catching the bus downtown probably until Friday morning. πŸŒ… I’m going to spend the night I expect/ Two weeks to Strawberry Moon πŸŒ• . Mostly sunny and 67 degrees in Bethlehem, NY. There is a north breeze at 7 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 52 degrees.

I have to say that the solar eclipse was well worth it to get up so early 🌘 even if I didn’t get any real good photos. But there are so many good pictures on social media to look at. Getting up at 5 am wouldn’t have been such a big deal if I hadn’t gotten to bed πŸ› at such late hour. It’s been a long time since I have driven home so tired, 😴barely caring about the traffic lights.🚦Tonight I don’t think I’ll run home 🏑 and get my truck if I’m late in the office 🏒 but will nap on my desk and catch the bus 🚍 safely home in the morning.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 79 degrees at 2pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 12th. Maximum dew point of 52 at 9am. North wind around 7 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. It became humid as the day progressed. The high last year was 86 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 2008. Now this would be a nice day for working out in the woods, but I am in the office. πŸ‘¨‍πŸ’Ό Tomorrow though maybe I can work from home.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:56 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.4° from the due south horizon (-0.4° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:51 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (296°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (303°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:33 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 27 seconds with dusk around 9:07 pm, which is 34 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:53 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 72 degrees. The dew point will be 51 degrees. There will be a north-northeast breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 15 minutes of daytime, an increase of 44 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 52 degrees at 5am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 29th. Maximum dew point of 51 at 8pm. Light and variable wind becoming southeast around 6 mph after midnight. In 2020, we had mostly clear skies. It was very sticky. It got down to 61 degrees. The record low of 36 occurred back in 1980.

On this day in 1964, United States Senate breaks a 75-day filibuster against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, βš– leading to the bill’s passage. Amazing how broken air conditioning can lead to major civil rights accomplishments. 😰 Sometimes you just got to sweat it out.

A decent weekend on tap but watch out for thunderstorms β›ˆ. Saturday, isolated showers before 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. North wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Maximum dew point of 57 at 9am. Sunday, a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 62 at 11am. Typical average high for the weekend is 79 degrees.

I haven’t heard back from dad if he wants to do the Gas Up this weekend, 🚜 but I might go out on my own. If I do myself, I’ll take my hammock and probably overnight at one of state forests out that way. Maybe Cotton Hill or maybe somewhere else. The nights are short and hopefully the bugs won’t be bad especially with cooler weather and not much humidity expected on Saturday at least.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Latest Sunset πŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:12 pm. On that day in 2020, we had humid, partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 85 and 65 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1943.
