He didn’t see his shadow 🌞 🐻 🕳

February 20, 2023 Night

Good evening! Partly clear 🌃 and 40 degrees for the evening walk 🚶 here in Delmar. There is a northwest breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 11 pm. ☃️

Memories of Madison County ⛺ and wishing I was still there, but alas I’m back home. If you believed last week’s forecast for tonight, heck even the forecast of this morning it would be rainy and cold tonight and tomorrow and I would have driven home in the rain even today, taking camp down in the rain. But none of that proved to be true.

It was a nice weekend 🌲🌳🌲🌲 hiked 30 miles in the state forest over three days though it was a fraction of the 130 mile trail system but between the two weekends spent there I feel like I’ve seen a lot of state forest. I’ll have to make a map 🗺 of all the trails I explored.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 27 degrees at 2am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 18th. North wind 3 to 7 mph. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 13 degrees. The record low of -10 occurred back in 2015. Not this year though a few weeks back we had that negative 13 day.

Went out and saw the folks 👪 and then washed all the traction sand mud off my truck got fruits and vegetables and a few other supplies including a cast iron frying pan 🍳, razors and also lighter fluid for the next time I camp in case the wood is wet. After a fun weekend back to eating healthy again though even on my fun weekend I included extra fruits and vegetables.

Tonight will have a New 🌚 Moon with 1% illuminated. The Worm 🐛 Moon is on Tuesday, March 7. The darkest hour is at 12:10 am, followed by dawn at 6:18 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:47 am in the east-southeast (104°) and last for 3 minutes Sunrise is one minute and 29 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 7:26 am with sun in the east-southeast (111°). Tonight will have 13 hours and 7 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of rain and snow showers before 2pm, then rain showers. 🌧 High of 39 degrees at 5pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 28th. Light and variable wind becoming south 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 30 degrees. The record high of 73 was set in 2018. 11.0 inches of snow fell back in 1929.❄

Back to work tomorrow 🏢 after the long weekend. There is a lot going on in the office this week despite not being a session week so it’s best to be back in the office as remote work is but a memory. Would be tough to work remote with the clouds and rain and the limited solar power for the truck at any rate. Better to save vacation time for the summer ☀ and nicer weather.

In four weeks on March 20 the sun will be setting in the west (271°) at 7:08 pm (Daylight Savings Time),🌄 which is one hour, 33 minutes and 53 seconds later then tonight. February 20, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Cloudy and 36 degrees at the Moscow Hill Camping Area. 🌥 There is a south-southwest breeze at 9 mph. 🍃. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 5 pm. ☃️

The past few days I’ve decided to take a break from social media and the blog 📜 so I can spend more time in the woods hiking and thinking, 👂 listening to podcasts and drinking 🍻 beer and being away from it all. Two nights is never enough, especially since I got used to remote work from camp. I could have taken tomorrow off but rain is coming.

I was on the fence about where to this long weekend ⛺ but settled on Brookfield as there was more trails I wanted to explore and the forecast while cloudy for Sunday and today looked less wet. I had been at Rennselearville State Forest three weekends ago and wanted to mix things up especially so I didn’t burn up too much firewood. Plus I like the rural landscape 🚜 heading out to Brookfield. Longer drive though but a pleasant one.

Saturday I walked around Glimmerglass State Park 🏞 and it was cold by the lake but in the woods with the wind 🍃 blocked by the mountains it wasn’t so bad. I didn’t stick around very long as such. Deep blue skies and a pretty sunset 🌇. Got to Moscow Hill Horse Camp 🐴 and set up camp then hiked over to Elmer’s Place and then bushwhacked over Grassy Hill trying to find a good view which didn’t exist but I did flush out a ton of grouse. 🕊

By the time I got back to camp it was 6:10 and nearly pitch black but I had previously gathered firewood, set up the lights and propane, 🏮 had everything ready to go so it was a pleasant night. Had a big fire 🔥 though it was smokey at times due to all the wet wood, wet stuff in the burnables as I’ve been eating healthier. Heard a local fire station whistle go of 🚒🧑‍🚒 and thought I might have some unplanned visitors but no it was some other call. This place isn’t as remote as some places I camp. ⛺ Forgot to buy lighter fluid but once I got the somewhat damp and frozen wood going it burned well but was sparky until the wind died out. Saturday was a star filled night ✨ and very mild which was nice.

Sunday was cloudy and breezy at times 🌬️ especially up on the hills. I hiked the bulk of the day, visiting most of the outer truck trails at Charles Baker State Forest 🌲🌳🌲 as I didn’t want to hike muddy horse trails. Checked out the Elmer Spring Campsite which is remote but accessible by vehicle and is really nice and private. ⛺ Hiked the Ledges Trail which was kind of interesting as was Truck Trail 7 which is cut into a ledge on the side of the mountain ⛰️. Icy in spots especially on the road but cold enough even the horse 🐴 trails weren’t too icy.

For today, Washington’s Birthday will have showers likely, mainly before 11am. Cloudy 🌦, with a high of 40 degrees at 11am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 28th. Not bad for the high country in in. Just wearing the vest. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 28 degrees. The record high of 66 was set in 1930. 11.2 inches of snow fell back in 1977.❄

While it hasn’t been sunny ☁️ the mid weather has been nice. Not having to deal with frozen water 💦, frozen food like milk 🥛 or eggs 🥚 is good for a change. The batteries are healthy and happy 😊 in my truck 🔋, I haven’t had to start the truck all weekend long. Used the propane heater ♨ a lot less than I have in recent trips, no icy propane lines to deal with. But it’s been cold enough that things have remained generally frozen in the ground, keeping the trails from being too muddy.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:16 pm with sun having an altitude of 36.2° from the due south horizon (-34.4° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 8.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour 🏅 starts at 5:01 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (249°). 📸 The sunset is in the west-southwest (256°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:40 pm after setting for 3 minutes with dusk around 6:07 pm, which is one minute and 17 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent 🌒 Moon in the west-southwest (253°) at an altitude of 2° from the horizon, 228,419 miles away. 🚀 The best time to look at the stars is after 6:41 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies ☁ and temperatures around 34 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 50 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over yesterday.

Today I decided to hike back and explore a few more ponds 🐸 in the northern part of the state forest. Then midday head back home. I figure enjoy and explore as much of the land while I’m here. Then I’ll have to head home. I thought about taking Tuesday off but it looks like rain ☔ and maybe snow here.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers after 4am. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 23 degrees at 2am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 5th. Maximum wind chill around 17 at 4am; Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 13 degrees. The record low of -10 occurred back in 2015.

Planning to go out and see the folks 👪 when I get home, that is after showering 🚿 and unpacking. Then I want to run to the car wash 🚙 and then Walmart for fruit and vegetables for the upcoming week. 🍏

Brookfield looks cold and snowy for next weekend. 🌨 But I got my fun in. Saturday, a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 25. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 39 degrees.

I don’t necessarily plan on being back to Brookfield anytime soon though I might do my April trip to Cazenovia rather than the Adirondacks East Branch Sacandaga River for a change. 🗻 Easter is late this year and depending on how mild the spring is things could be greening up by then. Probably few black flies up north 🐜 but I’ve been itching to do the Gorge Rail Trail is Cazenovia – Canestota for some time again. March maybe a camping trip ⛺ to Rennselearville State Forest again or Burnt Rossman. Depends on how much snow. It will be after the time change at this point.

Looking ahead, there are 7 weeks until 8 PM Dusk 🌆 when the sun will be setting at 7:39 pm with dusk at 8:06 pm (Daylight Savings Time) in Brookfield. Earlier back in Albany. On that day in 2022, we had partly cloudy, warm and temperatures between 74 and 49 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 57 degrees. Thinking spring thoughts 💭 on this cloudy but mild morning. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1922.

February 1, 2023 Evening

Good evening! Mostly clear and 23 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. ☃ ️Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around noontime. 🌡️

Cold evening for the walk 🚶 but actually pretty normal for winter but after the January that was it feels even colder but truth is that I’m just not used to it. But by next week things will be pushing 50 again. 🏢 Ever since I stepped out of the office this evening it was so cold out, even though I feel comfortable inside as I turned on the space heater then the electric blanket.

Tonight will have increasing clouds ☁, with a low of 17 degrees at 12am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around February 11th. Maximum wind chill around 15 at 8pm; West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming south after midnight. In 2022, we had snow in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 20 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1961.

I had a rough day 😕 though I realize my problems are all inside my head. It’s a tough world out there, I have to do the best I can to navigate it and invest in my own future 🔮 and not take on other people’s problems. A lot of things are unfair and I often think I’m getting a raw deal 🤝 but I have it a lot better off then many people.

I watched somebody run a stopped school 🚸 bus this morning and then I found out that the state tightened who could free file this year, so I’m left studying my options for how to file my taxes. 📂 Maybe I’ll do paper 📄. But it made me angry 😡 especially after hearing how state leaders want to expand benefits for migrants. I think our state should encourage immigration but people should be working and encouraged to open businesses. Taxed enough already, especially when I’ve worked so hard and the government is handing out freebies left and right.

I never understood the anger 💢 of my dairy farming friend over government welfare benefits to the poor but when you work your ass off at 5 am, 🐮 and pay a shit ton of taxes on your land, you can understand the anger. Farms pay remarkably high taxes in New York even after all the programs. I know the feeling.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous 🌔 Moon with 88% illuminated. At 7 PM, the moon was in the east-southeast (107°) at an altitude of 58° from the horizon, some 249,989 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. 🚀 At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by August 10th. Buckle up for safety! 💺.

The Snow ❄ Moon is on Sunday, February 5. The darkest hour is at 12:10 am, followed by dawn at 6:41 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:11 am in the east-southeast (113°) and last for 3 minutes and 9 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 2 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 7:52 am with sun in the east-southeast (120°). Tonight will have 13 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 22 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny 🌞, with a high of 37 degrees at 4pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 18th. South wind 6 to 11 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 27 degrees. The record high of 53 was set in 1981. 11.9 inches of snow fell back in 2015.❄

The truth is I’m just bitter about the cold today. 🌬️ The sun was nice but it was just such a nasty reminder about winter. I really want to get away from the long cold winters of New York but everything just takes so much longer financially and on my life then I would hope. I keep saving for a better tomorrow but I always feel like I’m treading on thin ice, if not falling through the ice gasping 😲 for air. Somehow at age 40 I thought I would be farther along in life, be more financially secure and have my own land 🚜. I just work so hard, and it’s such a slap in the face. But I’ll keep pushing, as I understand the power of compounding.

In four weeks on March 1 the sun will be setting in the west (261°) at 5:45 pm,🌄 which is 36 minutes later then tonight. In 2021 on that day, we had mostly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 41 and 17 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 40 and 22 degrees. The record high of 66 degrees was set back in 2017.

🔥🌲 Off-Grid Living 🏠🤠

I am seriously thinking about building an off-grid house. I have a first draft. I need to learn CAD! I have a road map towards buying land and building. I concede might have to live with long commute and give up traveling and camping. I need to be strong.

Why off grid? Well, I’m not into contemporary society. I want to own land, but not be called a landowner, and a cabin, not hooked to electrical grid, farm, raise pigs for food and burn my own trash. I’m saving for a better tomorrow, hoping to make the leap to another freer state. Having acreage is important. Cornfields aren’t bad neighbors. Maybe though my vision has grown smaller and more local. More on off-grid living.

I am 16 years into my career and have made some significant progress in my life. I love my job. But I do wonder on all the things I’m missing out but saving sure makes me high. Maybe it will be different when I own my own land — the end of goal of all this saving.

2020 into 2021 during the pandemic was a year of remote work. It was a struggle not having internet at home, worked a lot out of my truck. But I worked remotely from Horseshoe Lake which was super cool.

Generally I like the idea of owning land in a red state, particularly Idaho, Iowa, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Wisconsin — and Midwest more generally. But I may settle for New York – it’s all about the f-ing money!

💻👨‍💻 Open Source 🗺️📍

I use open source software and public sources of data for the blog. Quantum GIS (QGIS), GDAL/ogr2ogr, PyQGIS, GeoPANDAS, R Studio and Leaflet for map making, Arduino and ESP32 microprocessors, Ubuntu Linux and XFCE Window Manager. I’ve recently gotten interested in machine learning.

I avoid using commercial software like Microsoft Windows and do not have home internet or television. If you don’t use commercial software and use your brain, fears of computer viruses are overblown. I deleted most of my social media accounts.

📊🗺 R Statistical Programming 📜👨‍🏫

The R programming language and RStudio are powerful tools for statistical analysis, making maps and charts. Many of the blog posts and analysis I do are in R, ggplot not only makes great charts but also maps using tidycensus. Generally, R is better then Python for geospatial work.

I often think politics is for losers. I’m into the politics of statistical analysis and reading history books.

I believe strongly in the first amendment, second amendment, oppose gun restrictions and I support de-funding the police in favor of lower-cost technology and civilian employees. Maybe use red flag laws for voting to stop dangerous voters? And the media should stop promoting mass-shootings, even if it’s super profitable for all involved. They should tax the media when it promotes violence. I think some people are much too paranoid in politics. How elections are rigged under law to benefit incumbents. But vote, it’s the best option and inexpensive.

Yeah for the third parties! I voted for Larry Sharpe for Governor and Jo Jergenson for President but my views are complicated and often vote for Democrats, after voting Jill Stein Green Party in 2016.

Generally, I think Biden has been a good change over DJT and glad the Trump era is over and are glad prosecutors and grand jurors are holding him responsible by indicting him for many serious felonies. I don’t think Trump can win in 2024, as nothing has changed politically from 2020.

I think rural people should be left alone and not worship government workers or have parades for them. I am no fan of Donald Trump, his speeches are bad, I don’t like Trump’s embrace of radical environmentalists, but do admire the homemade roadside monuments to DJT.

I don’t toke. But whatever. There are too many transit authorities.

Why I oppose wilderness areas and parks. It’s trendy to be green these days, but is eco-marketing good for the planet? I visited the Mount Storm Coal Plant and Corridor H.

I worry about a lot about overly-aggressive Climate Change Action, and Undermining Environment Laws for Climate Action. I think we should all admit we are Addicted to Fossil Fuels. These days, urban recycling has become a joke, when it’s still an option at all. It’s better to just buy less shit and avoid the alure of Costcos. I really don’t like how aging radicals have become industrial solar salespeople.

Big bucks are coming to state-designated disadvantaged communities under the CLCP. Which counties and political districts are in line for the the most pork? Interactive map.

I’m a big of farmers who are essentially Living Off the Earth and think Rednecks are Noble Savages. Dairy Farming are key to our rural landscape. I’d trust a farmer or a hunter in a pile of guts he’s butchered over any ivory-tower scientist.

🌎🔆 Industrial Solar 🌞 🏭

Hundreds of multi-acre industrial solar farms are being built in our state. How bad is solar for the environment? We should ask tough questions. Interactive of recently built solar farms, proposed facilities. List of proposed industrial solar facilities. See how the Greenville Solar Farm changed the landscape.

💳 💸Saving Money 💰 💷

I am not a fan of ESG Investing as it’s not well diversified. I prefer index-funds and other tax-advantaged ways of saving. Why I am concerned about saving enough for retirement, even though I’m in my late 30s. We as a nation should save more, consume less. I like the idea of carbon tax to replace capital gains taxes to discourage consumption.

🥦 🍎Mission Fifty & Being Healthier 🏠🧠

I am now officially in my 40s! I am building to a better life in my 50s, which means getting up early, walking a lot, saying no to cake and yes to more fruit. In many ways, the forties are an awesome time to be alive.

And eating healthy for less without losing sleep over arsenic. And I don’t think we should subsidize unhealthy habits. How I got started in eating healther. Meals are too focused on meat and carbs due to how we describe them, maybe I eat too many bananas in the office, what to eat while camping, worry more about salt then GMOs, eat more beans. Do spend extra for farmers market peaches, especially doughnut peaches and plums. Consider ethnic supermarkets. Thinking about how to make a healthier macaroni and cheese, spinach-mackeral-pasta salad, quick-cook biscuits and whole-wheat bread. That said, too many recipes are junk food crap. Okay in moderation is not okay. The fact that I’m thinner is not a sign I’m dying.

A few years back I decided to explore my mental illness with therapy, thinking about why I have so much anxiety and how many of my values are rational or just thinking too much rednecks’ burn barrels and how much of a throwaway society we live in. Do I want to change?

I’ve learned to care less about the world, and focus more on myself. Maybe I am happier as I am now, saving and investing a lot towards owning my own land, where I don’t have to deal with all the bullshit of modern life.

February 2, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Ground Hog Day 🐻 ! We all know what he has predicted, with the help of the Deep State. What else could predict that in correlation with the National Weather Service’s existing 8-14 day outlook. Four weeks to Read Across America Day 📚 . Nothing like reading a good book on a colder winter’s day. Although lately I’ve been reading more PDF e-Books on my phone. Light snow showers and 26 degrees in Delmar, NY. ❄ There is a north breeze at 14 mph. 🍃 with gusts up to 25 mph 💨💨💨. The current wind chill is 14. There are 11 inches of snow on the ground. ☃ ️Things will start to thaw out at Thursday around noontime. 🌡️

Kind of a cold and snowy Ground Hog Day. 🐻 I guess that is to be expected for February 2nd, although it looks like the weather may trend colder by mid-month. But at a certain point, especially past Presidents Day, it gets harder and harder to have extended cold periods due to the noon-time sun angle pushing 40 degrees with similar average high temperatures. The higher sun angle means more solar energy hits the earth, which warms up.

No morning walk today, as I think the sidewalks are still quite snowy. 🚶Instead, I’m going to dig out around the truck and clean the snow off it. We might get a few more inches of snow throughout the day, but my view is it’s better to keep up with the snow while it’s falling down, so it’s less work. 🛻 The tarp over the truck cap means that once the snow stops, I can just remove it, shake off the snow, and then the truck cap should be bare of snow and the solar panel topping things off as soon as the sun returns. 😎

Thursday I will do my shopping and go to the library. 🛒 That way I get the groceries I need and I can download/put together any projects that require big files like the static 3D aerial photos or Youtube videos for watching. ⬇ I actually did watch some of the videos 📼 I downloaded over the weekend when I was at the folks house and the library on Friday. A pretty ordinary week, maybe Bill Murray would approve, but then again I’ve actually never seen the film Ground Hog Day.

Today will snow. Patchy blowing snow. 🌨 High of 30 degrees at 1pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around January 22nd. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 37 degrees. The record high of 53 was set in 1981. 11.9 inches of snow fell back in 2015.❄

So far no real blowing snow. 🌬 But it’s something to watch for as the day progresses. But alas it’s kind of the winds of change, it’s going to be a more seasonable 34 degrees Thursday and maybe 38 or even 40 come Friday. 🌧 Rain and snow for Friday, which might cut down a lot on snow, but Saturday looks good for skiing — high temperatures only around 30 so things won’t be too sloppy.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 30.7° from the due south horizon (-40.1° vs. 6/21). At sunset, look for snow 🌨 and temperatures around 30 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 19. ☃️ There will be a north breeze at 14 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 2 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 24 seconds over yesterday.

Maximum wind chill around 15 at 1am; North wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2020, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 27 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1955.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 31. ☀ Should be cold of skiing. Sunday, a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. 🌨 Chance of precipitation is 40%. Typical average high for the weekend is 33 degrees.

🌹🌻🌼Only 46 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼 The Ground Hawg says no early spring for you. He’s kind of a soup nazi, I guess.

One month 📅 from now will be Read Across America Day 📚 when the sun will be setting at 5:46 pm with dusk at 6:14 pm. The average high temperature is 32 degrees, with a record high of 61 in 1895.

All days must end

February 20, 2020 Night

OH my GOSH, that old Yippie book 📙 hi was loaned by a friend is hilarious. 😂 Maybe not all of the content is politically correct and it’s not certainly not neutral in its views but certainly a people’s history of the 1960s through the 1970s. Some of the pages are probably too obscene to share but what do I care, it’s historical media at this point. 👴 All the people in it are very gray nowadays and the statue of limitations long past and I doubt it’s copyright. 🐽 I’m going to share more pictures tomorrow.

Rode the exercise bike 🚲 for a about an hour, caught up on YouTube. Prepper type channels tonight. While I don’t hoard supplies I do like learning more bushcraft and off grid stuff and to be more thoughtful 💭 about the risks in life. Then spend a few hours thumbing 👍 through that book about the Yippies.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌤, with a low of 9 degrees at 5am. 10 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 2 at 6am; Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light north. The darkest hour is at 12:10 am, followed by dawn at 6:18 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:47 am in the east-southeast (105°) and last for 3 minutes Sunrise is one minute and 29 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 7:26 am with sun in the east-southeast (111°). Tonight will have 13 hours and 10 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 46 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 31 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around January 30th. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 44 degrees. The record high of 73 was set in 2018. 11 inches of snow fell back in 1929.❄

In four weeks on March 19 the sun will be setting in the west (270°) at 7:06 pm (Daylight Savings Time),🌄 which is one hour, 33 minutes and 57 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 45 and 24 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 46 and 27 degrees. The record high of 78 degrees was set back in 2012.
