October 7, 2017 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 68 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 10 mph. The dew point is 62 degrees. Rather sticky for Columbus Day Weekend and it’s only going to get worse as the night progresses. The skies will clear tomorrow around 6 pm.

Laying out back in the bed of my truck, thumbing through Facebook and Twitter with my mouse and keyboard connected to my phone. Phone is plugged into the truck and is charging because when I got home I didn’t plug it in correctly this afternoon and the battery started to go dead. Almost 50% recharged now. With eight sets of USB charging ports in my truck — between the cab and the back — there is no shortage of places to plug things in for charging. Pleasant evening, crickets are enjoying the warm and humidity, and the wind is blowing around. Moon is out, and it’s a generally nice evening for sure out back here.

We had some rain drops on and off for a while today then it stopped. A little bit of clearing later in the day, but certainly not a real nice day. Went down to Valatie to vist my mom and go apple picking with my niece — it was a pretty nice day — although I don’t think I missed much by staying in town this weekend. Monday certainly looks like it will be a wet one. Went to store this evening, returned beer cans, bought groceries and washed the truck. Got the trash and recycables organized outside and did some minor cleaning around. Took a nap for a while.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 68 degrees at 10pm. 25 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 64 at 2am. South wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2016, we had mostly clear skies with more clouds in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1964.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon with 85% illuminated. The moon will set tomorrow at 11:14 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Thursday night with a chance of showers. The Beaver Moon is on Friday, November 3rd. The sun will rise at 7:00 am with the first light at 6:32 am, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. Tonight will have 12 hours and 36 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have showers and thunderstorms likely before 11am, then a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high of 80 degrees at 3pm. 18 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 66 at 12pm. South wind 11 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had sunny skies. The high last year was 66 degrees. Much nicer weather last year for sure. The record high of 79 was set in 2011.

In four weeks on November 4 the sun will be setting at 5:43 pm, which is 41 minutes and 39 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2016 on that day, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 53 and 31 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 53 and 34 degrees. The record high of 76 degrees was set back in 1994.

Looking ahead, National Pumpkin Cheese Cake Day is in 2 weeks, Beaver Moon is in 4 weeks and Election Day 2017 is a month away.
