October 7, 2017 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday on this Columbus Day Weekend. Two weeks to National Pumpkin Cheese Cake Day. I am counting down the days. Mostly cloudy and 58 degrees in Delmar. Going to be a cloudy but warm October day. There is a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. The dew point is 56 degrees. The skies will clear around 6 pm.

Today will be mostly cloudy, with a high of 79 degrees at 4pm. 16 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 63 at 1pm. South wind 5 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had sunny skies. The high last year was 75 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 1963.

While we aren’t expecting much in the way for rain, it going to be a very dark and gray day, but maybe some clearing later. It’s a bit hard to say for sure. I am glad I didn’t decide to take my autumn trip this week as the forecast keeps sliding downhill as it increasingly looks like we are going to have a direct hit from the reminants of Nate, and we might get two or more inches of rain. Heavy rain is much better when your only out in it briefly at the bus stop.

The sun will set at 6:24 pm with dusk around 6:53 pm, which is one minute and 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. At sunset, look for partly cloudy conditions and 76 degrees. The dew point will be 62 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 24 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 67 degrees at 12am. 24 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 64 at 2am. South wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2016, we had mostly clear skies with more clouds in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1964.

I got to go to the grocery store today and may remove the roof racks from my truck cap so I can give Big Red a bath. Figure get it all cleaned off before I get it muddy next weekend. Maybe go down to the library later and I plan to visit my mom this morning a bit. Sunday is going to be somewhat to really wet, while Columbus Day is expected to be a real soaker.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until National Pumpkin Cheese Cake Day when the sun will be setting at 6:02 pm with dusk at 6:30 pm. On that day in 2016, we had rain, drizzle, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 73 and 51 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 58 degrees. We hit a record high of 81 back in 1979.
