October 11, 2017 Evening

Good evening! Light drizzle and 59 degrees in Albany. There is a north breeze at 11 mph. The dew point is 48 degrees. No serious rain just a tad bit damp. Leaves are falling all around with the breeze and rain. The skies will clear tomorrow around 11 am.

Pretty long delayed on the 787 heading home this evening. Stop and go traffic, probably an accident up ahead. But I’m sure I’ll be home by six and I’m not driving so it really doesn’t matter. With the dark and wet weather it might actually be close to the to dark once I’m there.

The sun will set at 6:18 pm with dusk around 6:46 pm, which is one minute and 40 seconds earlier than yesterday. At sunset, look for rain showers and 58 degrees. The dew point will be 47 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 11 mph.

Awesome weekend on tap, with temperatures running 15 degrees above normal. Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 74. Maximum dew point of 61 at 3pm. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 79. Maximum dew point of 63 at 4pm. With that high pressure in control, it’s like the summer that never ends despite the leaves rapidly falling. Typical average high for the weekend is 61 degrees.

I am thinking about asking for next week off and doing a try two on my West Virginia trip. I think it would be a fun trip although I’m increasingly thinking about spending more time in Western New York over West Virginia and the Blue Ridge Parkway. I just kind of get tired of taking down and setting up camp every day. I also don’t really enjoy staying in developed campgrounds or so much driving. Maybe I’ll just find a place in the National Forest down there and stay multiple days. I’ll have to think about it more.

In four weeks on November 8 the sun will be setting at 4:38 pm (Standard Time), which is one hour, 39 minutes and 36 seconds earlier then today. In 2016 on that day, we had patches of fog, mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 59 and 26 degrees. That was the day after Election Day 2016, when people were shocked about the results of the presidential election. Typically, you have temperatures between 51 and 34 degrees. The record high of 75 degrees was set back in 1975.

Looking ahead, World Pasta Day is in 2 weeks, Coldest Day of Year (Avg. 14-30 degrees) is in 13 weeks and Inaugeration Day 2021 is in 171 weeks.
