May 12, 2017 Night

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 57 degrees in Delmar. There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. The dew point is 44 degrees. The air is feeling a bit damp with the rain heading in tomorrow but generally a mild evening that is getting increasingly cool. The skies will clear Monday around 6 pm. But next week will be nice, until the weekend.

Wasn’t a terrible day but kind of chaotic at times, but that’s normal for a Friday where I work. Wish we had better weather for the weekend and I could get out of town but I have some things to do this weekend and hopefully Memorial Day Weekend will be quite nice.

Sitting out back now watching the PBS Newshour on the tailgate of my truck. Not a terrible evening but it could be a bit warmer. In a bit I will retire inside. So be it. I will close the windows when I go to bed because it will get fairly cool and damp in morning.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 46 degrees at 5am. Typical for tonight. South wind around 6 mph. In 2016, it got down to 52 degrees with rain and fog and patches of fog and mist and cloudy skies. The record low of 30 occurred back in 2005.

Waning Gibbous Moon tonight with 86% illuminated. The Last Quarter Moon is next Friday with partly cloudy skies expected. The Full β€œStrawberry” Moon is in 4 weeks. The sun will rise at 5:35 am with the first light at 5:02 am, which is one minute and 5 seconds earlier than yesterday. Tonight will have 9 hours and 25 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 7 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain, mainly after 9am. High of 56 degrees at 3pm. 13 degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 47 at 1pm. Southeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had rain, fog, patches of fog, mist, cloudy skies and a high of 64 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 2004. There was a dusting of snow in 1953.

Sunday, rain likely before 8am, then showers likely, mainly after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 58. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 69 degrees.

In four weeks on June 9 the sun will be setting at 8:32 pm, which is 23 minutes and 59 seconds later then tonight. In 2016 on that day, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 65 and 50 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 76 and 55 degrees. The record high of 100 degrees was set back in 1933.

Still thinking about vests because mine is in very rough shape. It really isn’t a big expense, when you figure how much I wear the vest. I just got to find some place that offers a good price. I want to be able to wear my vest again.

I found a shapefile with the BEDS codes so I will be able to make maps comparing state education data. There has been a lot of maps on education I’ve wanted to make but without the BEDS codes, I’ve not been able to link the data. I wish I could find current year school aid data but I’m sure looking around I’ll be able to find useful data, or maybe in June when it’s finally posted.

With yet another rainy weekend ahead, I’ll probably work on some more maps, graphics and content. I really got to do more Google Maps going forward. We will see.

Looking ahead, Memorial Day Weekend is in 2 weeks, Strawberry Moon is in 4 weeks, National Nude Day is in 9 weeks, Last Sunset After 8 PM is in 3 months, September 1st is in 16 weeks and Autumn Begins is in 19 weeks.
